Anyone care to take a guess on eventual price? Mine would be around the $1000 region, which, given the complexity of the project, would be a very fair asking price IMO. However, being realistic, I can see it costing more.

Considering his mini cute repros were more than that, I wouldn't hope for 1k. It's also now post-covid with everything costing much more. And this one also requires plastic molding which was not required for the Cutes and is more expensive to work with than metal. I believe the original suggestion was it'd be 2500 and they'd need to sell 500 to make it worth the trouble. Which for a niche toy cab not really big enough for two people to play it is a tall ask. Especially in the pricing territory of original cabs that can do much more.bcass wrote:Just in case people here aren't aware of this awesome project yet:

This can potentially benefit everyone - it can make readily available spare parts for those with original cabs, and makes the whole cab available for anyone who doesn't yet have one.
In case anyone is in doubt about the guy behind this, I recall purchasing a TR Fightstick case off him a few years ago. The build quality is excellent. There was an issue with the paint on my model though, and he was quick to send me a new case, at no additional charge to me. He even went as far as making me a non-transparent base which I requested, which he also did not charge for. I'm pretty sure he must have lost money on this transaction as it isn't cheap sending stuff from Turkey to the UK. So, at least from me, this company has a ringing endorsement.
As a side point, people should probably be reasltic on time frames for this. At a guess it's likely to take a couple of years before full units are sent out. However, given the state of many of the original units that are still in the wild, and how uncommon they are becoming, I think this project is awesome and well worth backing.

He's also targeting a cab that needs you to source your own 18" CRT, so unless you've got some spare Cutes, Consolettes, Red Tents or Sigma Tables to tear one out of, you're probably out of luck anywhere but Japan. Or you're going the LCD route (which is definitely a big "meh" when looking at owning an arcade cabinet).

It isn't confirmed which cab(s) he is replicating yet is it? If one of them he is planning to replicate is the Egret II (highly likely given that this is one of the most popular) then that is a 29" monitor, not an 18".

It's a Neo19. He's not saying it in the ko-fi and referring to it as a "20 minus 1" because of some weird advice he got about not using the name while trying to gain licensing from SNK. He got one in a year and change ago and it's been an on-going thing in threads on AP and his discord. It's confirmed.bcass wrote:It isn't confirmed which cab(s) he is replicating yet is it? A 29" cab isn't going to happen, largely due to the ridiculous increase in costs to both manufacture and ship (they take up more space, so fewer per container).

If it's only going to be for the Neo19 I don't think he will get anywhere close to reaching the goal for the prototype costs then unfortunately.

We're in agreement on that.bcass wrote:If it's only going to be for the Neo19 I don't think he will get anywhere close to reaching the goal for the prototype costs then unfortunately.
There were enough issues with the Mini Cute reproductions that I think he's turned off a lot of buyers anyway. Plus they didn't get anywhere *near* the needed sales to make this one a sensible project and those have a wider appeal than the Neo19.
Will see what happens from the sidelines though. Who knows.

On page 2 user "Oleander69" mentions an EU-based reproduction that has been done already and also posted pictures?
Does anybody have more info on that? Sounds really interesting!

I love the dedication of the work, but for me to be interested we'd have to be talking arcade1up pricing max. So yeah, that ain't happening.
