Sega Saturn RGB issue

Post by Shimmyhill »

Hi there, I am new to the board but in the quest to solve my Saturn woes I have come across some good technical solutions on here but as yet to solve mine :(

I have a PAL modded Saturn, switchless region & 50hz/60hz with a couple of RGB scart leads - one from Retro gaming cables with sync on Luna and a very strange issue.

When i switch the machine on it boots fine, I can get to the CD player screen and move around that screen fine. As soon as I start a game (generally JP games - Segar Rally for instance) I get the Sega splash screen and then I lose sync on my 14” Sony CRT and just get a rolling image with sound playing fine.

If I plug the same system into my OSSC I can get an image on my 4k TV but the OSSC is reporting an odd output 74.07hz so I assume this is why it doesn’t sync on my CRT. To make things more odd while the game works fine I have no pad control unless I cycle from 60hz > 50hz > 60hz and then the pad works and the game plays fine.

I have very little technical knowledge and am at a complete loss - when I picked the machine up it was working fine but this was on a composite lead, ive ordered one of those to try out.

Any ideas at all!?
