it took me 7 credits and I was on very easy! yay me! i am the worst Gradius player ever. i just wanted to finally get Weapon Edit. i was expecting something in the vein of Gaiden's, but oh well.
Note: I got frustrated at several points in the play, due to stupid deaths and losing my options and so on. Something i've noticed about myself before, but my fun meter is multiplied when i play on Normal and harder difficulties. that second loop is a thing of beauty!

Just wait 'till you get to the 30th.
Not like it even matters; the game maxes out on the 10th loop.
Approach your target and attack! Your mission starts now! ARE YOU READY!?

"Fun Meter"? Yea, keep the fun and the challenge up.
I wouldn't mess with "Hard" until I one life the beast...which means never!
(Normal mode for me)
actually when i first bought it i would only play it on hard. at that time though i couldn't get past the Ring core (or whatever it is called). haven't tried it lately. i'll have to give it a try when i get back from work tonight.

Why are you posting this? Do I post everytime I sucessfully blow 15 pills of viagra and finally get an erection? HMM!?!?
The white clouds floating on the great blue sky
And the boiling red blood shed in fierce gaming
Those who give up halfway through
Their battered bodies will never forget!
Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!

Hah... I agree. But I was keeping it nice.
I would much rather read about someones conquests on "normal" mode, without all those silly continues.
Its really hard to appreciate when someone chimes in saying something like..."HEY, I JUST BEAT DODONPACHI with 20 credits, I'm fucking awesome ain't I!?" I ownZ0rz n' stuff!
Bleh...
Keep it real, and keep it on normal Ace! The road to the coveted 1CC is a tough one indeed.
Now here's a question: SNES Gradius III and GG both have weapon edit available by default. In GV's case, would you not give someone props for 1CCing the beast using the weapon edit if they didn't (A) unlock weapon edit on anything at least as hard as normal mode or (B) just happen to play on the same system as someone who unlocked it in the course of beating the game.
I'd give weapon edit 1CC's kudos regardless of how weapon edit was obtained since I belive that the ends justify the means, unlike some people here who feel you shouldn't even see further sections unless you get there on 1 credit.
It seems incredibly silly to me when one of these people say I cheated by skipping ahead to practice via multiple continues before the ventual 1CC when in the end, this person has accomplished nothing more than I have.
But in this specific case, the 1CC had not been completed yet; there was only beating the game within a limited number of credits.
note to all. it is not as if i am really bragging. merely making a statement of my terrible-ness. and also, given that i had no idea what the weapon edit would be like, a small comment of disappointment.
