Retro Gaming Cables Dreamcast Component, does it exist?

I noticed that the Retro Gaming Cables dreamcast cable https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/Seg ... 3fb4c077bb apparently went through a pre-order phase recently.

I've been checking this page regularly for months and saw no available updates, so I'm confused as to whether I missed something or if this is actually being realized at this point. I've been waiting a long time for some sort of component solution to come out for the Dreamcast and am trying to determine if the end is in sight. If not I'll just get a behar bros box and RGB-ypbpr transcoder and go that route, but I'd prefer the simplest solution with the least amount of variables and risk of signal degradation.

Just wondering if anyone knows if I missed out, or if this is still a vaporware situation like the retrovision cable?

I think all Dreamcast cables including the Scart ones, have been out of stock for ages everywhere (this includes Retro Access). Has to do with the shortages.

Anybody have experience with the cheapo aliexpress scart cables with a scart->component transcoder? That might actually be a good option for me. I could always upgraded the cable itself later and even with a good transcoder it wouldn't be any more expensive than the component cables will be if they ever release.

Any issues I'm not thinking of converting scart to ypbpr for a consumer ntsc crt? I'll just be doing 480i not 480p.

HD Retrovision has been talking about releasing a cable. It's been in production for some time now iirc. I wouldn't hold my breath for it though.

I recently sent RGC a broken HDretrovision SNES component cable that didn't display red. In the end he said the electronics in the box are faulty and its not repairable as the box would need to be cracked open as its moulded shut. He gave an RGC version for free, which was nice of him and returned my HDretrovision cable as well.

I told Robert at RGC I was interested in the Dreamcast component cable and he said its coming soon, then the preorder went up a month or so later.

This is the way to do it. I'm a huge proponent that HD Retrovision cables are extremely stupid if you use multiple sets of them for multiple systems... you're then paying for the same RGBS > YPbPr/Component converter built into them over and over again when you could just buy ONE quality converter and WAY cheaper RGBS cables. Those RGBS cables are also generally ALWAYS available to buy from somebody, and don't suffer nearly the horribly availability issues HDR cables do (which tend to be out of stock everywhere, nearly all the time somehow.

Anyway, I do NOT suggest the cheap Aliexpress anything however. Get quality RGBS cables, and a quality RGBS > YPbPr converter (buy once, cry once as the saying goes).

With the above being (I hope good advice overall, Dreamcast DOES throw a wrench into the normalcy of things with most other consoles being RGBS and Dreamcast one of the very, very few ones which most use in RGBHV... it also has a thing where some few (but popular) games will NOT run in 480p, so the cable needs a switch to manually switch into that mode... which I'm sure is one reason why the cables for this are so difficult to source.... for your case though, since you said that you can't run 480p anyway, this is a moot point and your plan is good (with the above caveat that I would suggest buying quality SCART and converter, not cheap-o).
