ZeroRanger and ChoRenSha 68K.

ZeroRanger for the thoughtful progression mechanics and memorable experience, ChoRenSha 68K for some of the best moment to moment gameplay and level design in a shmup and a GOAT level soundtrack.

PC native = originally released on PC or running natively on PC (not emulated, basically)?

In any case, for PC originals, you have KAMUI, Crimzon Clover, Blue Revolver, Graze Counter, Graze Counter GM (there really isn't much of a point in buying the original now that GM exists from what I understand), Infinos Gaiden (actually all of the Picorinne Soft games, including Andro Dunos II, are PC games originally; the console versions are made afterwards by some other developer or something), GRAND CROSS: ReNOVATION, Hellsinker, and probably some other stuff that I forgot about.

KAMUI is a must-play game. It's one of the best STGs you'll ever play and the only place you can play it is on PC.

Pawarumi - extremely flexible weapon system for powering up supershot, regain health or stronger damage output. Once it clicks, feels really nice to use imo. Also, beautiful and original art direction. Rocking soundtrack.

Revolver 360 Reactor - bringing bullet hell to a new (tubular) level. Can get very chaotic...and blue colored;-) Best played in small doses, I guess.

Black Bird - humorous, stylish and rather easy going take on good old Fantasy Zone.

Drainus - my personal favourite shmup release of 2022. Superb mechanics influenced by Gradius, Darius, and Thunderforce. Rather forgiving unless played on higher difficulty levels which makes it a perfectly relaxing excercice in blowing up armadas after work.

Squad 51 vs. the Flying Saucers - doesn't get much love from the hardcore crowd, which is a shame imho. Superstylish Hori, looking like a playable Flash Gordon show from 1936...in beautiful black and white Hires. Gameplay is solid, though more akin to an Amiga shmup than an arcade title.

If you want to move away from Japanese gameplay designs even more, I'd highly recommend two beautifully minimalistic games on the Atari 50 compilation:
VctrSctr and Yars' Revenge Reimagined
