Cool, glad to hear you'll still be doing stuff! I enjoyed Bullet Heaven and picked up... and indeed didn't pick up
stuff off the back of it. It was always a good length and informative regardless of whether or not I agreed with praise/critcism of games.

agreed.Jonpachi wrote:I propose that we ban anyone who does this type of post. Fuck off with your bullshit.
I watched part of one of the videos and the infantile use of cursing was off-putting. Not well-executed, not worth advertising.

Anyway, glad to hear you're freeing yourself up for new ideas, man. Loved your channel for years now! Awesome in-depth reviews. Best of luck!!!
Re: Shmups and Shmup-Adjacent: Casually Hard-Core
I'm talking about using the forum for nothing more than brand promotion. Should at least be in OT.

That's fine. Personally, I give him a pass as he's like one of the biggest shmup channels on youtube who has been giving in-depth quality content for years, but that doesn't excuse telling him to fuck off. Come on. World's nasty enough out there. And there's plenty of good stuff on this board, man. It's one thread. There's just no need for that. /rantJonpachi wrote:I'm talking about using the forum for nothing more than brand promotion. Should at least be in OT.

Toxic af!said it many’s times,fk this forum!few spoil it for the rest!this dude has contributed more to shmups than most.kept the shmup pulse beating as it fell into obscurity, and played a major roll in its revival!go fight trump supporters and anti Vaxxers on Twitter, leave studio mud prints out of it!he a true asset to this communityJonpachi wrote:I propose that we ban anyone who does this type of post. You realize big youtube channels dedicated to shmup reviews bring in new players and keep the excitement going for us old ones. Meaning more game sales and devs seeing more $$$ as well as being more likely to keep developing this niche genre of shmups we so much enjoy. Think about that for a moment.Jonpachi wrote:I propose that we ban anyone who does this type of post. Fuck off with your bullshit.
Studio Mudprints has been doing shmups reviews for 12 plus years if im not mistaken. That alone has promoted many shmup sales and introduced many new players to the genre. What have you done to promote the genre besides your 933 posts on this forum?

I don't think there's an issue with making a post about your content.
This is fine. I'm sure Jon will apologize too. If my suspicions are correct he was likely just preconditioned against it by dark forces

Glad you're still doing stuff, there aren't enough TurboGrafx fans around.

It's also entirely possible to run a YouTube channel that promotes the genre without inundating message boards with content spam.-Fish- wrote:You realize big youtube channels dedicated to shmup reviews bring in new players and keep the excitement going for us old ones. I guess in this case it's not really so bad, but there's a history here of certain users spamming their content without actually caring to participate in the conversation, so it's left a few of us a bit jaded. The second I see someone posting a thread but it ends up primarily being a vehicle for promoting their videos, I roll my eyes and bounce off. I come here to read, not watch.PerishedFraud ឵឵ wrote:I don't think there's an issue with making a post about your content.

I think Mudprints deserve a bit of credit here.Austin wrote:It's also entirely possible to run a YouTube channel that promotes the genre without inundating message boards with content spam.-Fish- wrote:You realize big youtube channels dedicated to shmup reviews bring in new players and keep the excitement going for us old ones. Their channel has been around since 2009 producing professional-level content, the effort behind which can't at all have been justified by the views the genre could provide, especially pre-Switch. Name a relevant game and they probably did an in-depth review at some point, spending 3 minutes breaking down the scoring system while casuals clicked off to watch something else. So they helped build what foundation there was on the platform for the genre - all the while having to watch the Metal Jesuses rack up hundreds of thousands of views with hidden gem videos telling you to buy Ikaruga. If they wanted to inundate the board, they've probably got 100s of videos they could've done it with. I believe Ser Flash even mentioned in an Electric Underground interview that he had to deal with a heart attack 2-3 years back & still came back & kept things going. So I'd argue that there's a pretty slim list of people in the shmup community who've earned as much of a right to tell folks that they're shifting gears to a new project that might be of genuine interest to people here.

Ok, my bad completely here. I wasn't aware of the context, and just thought this was another drop-n-run, self-promo thread. Carry on.

Not only that, but his activity on the forum goes beyond posting about his channel. He's not the most active user, but his activity isn't about posting his outside content.
It's ok to promote stuff you do that's shmup related in Shmups Chat, if that's not the only thing you use the forum for. We are a community, and as such, it's expected we can talk about stuff we do outside here that are about our hobby, shmups... as long as you are *part* of the community, it's ok to do it occasionally.
He had a specific thread to post content from his previous channel (which is, as it has been pointed out, awesome), and that thread not even 1/3 of his activity here.. so it's all okay.
