Hi All,
I wanna play ketsui on shumpmame4.2
Currently I find three versions: ket, keta, ketb.
It seems that they emulate the same game. Why? Any detailed difference between them? Which one you will recommend to play?
Sincerely,
irakatz

Re: Problems about Kestui on MAME
Looks like it was indeed the same build date, probably there was three different dumpers submit the rom to MAME so they separate the rom naming (you can see the naming on MAME they have same name with different punctuations). Universally "ket" is the most played here as it's the original but I don't think keta and ketb have any differences at all.

it'll be the date screen you can tell ... iirc they we're all relatively minor bug fixes afaik, although I think one of them did tune down the lock on sound if that bugs you?
the latest version will be the one with the most dots after 'master ver' iirc...
edit clarification to my ramblings ... i swear one of the oldest + best fansites ever:

Ketb is the original release. In mame they are lettered in opposite order of release so the one without the letters in the last release.copy-paster wrote:Looks like it was indeed the same build date, probably there was three different dumpers submit the rom to MAME so they separate the rom naming (you can see the naming on MAME they have same name with different punctuations). The main observable difference is the lock shot sound, some say it's more annoying in ketb but I prefer the harsher noise personally. Another difference is in ketb you are not invulnerable at the beginning of the stage, which does make some slight increase in difficulty in loop 2 imo.
The other changes address bugs like the game crashing if you don't put a credit in soon enough.

To add to this, the best reason to play the original release (ketb), is that the beeping noise when you lock onto enemies is way quieter.pegboy wrote:Ketb is the original release. So basically you get the choice between quiet lock-on sound + loud lock shot (ketb) and loud lock-on sound + quiet lock shot (ket). That's how I would describe them, though your definition of quiet or loud may be different for these sound effects.
Most people play on the latter (ket) I believe, as it is the newest revision and has a few bugfixes. But the sound differences will be the most noticeable when you're actually playing imo, so I would decide based on that.
