Help activating RGB

Post by nelo_inc »

Today i bought a KV-21LS30E and i can´t change to RGB, when pressing the selecting input source on the remote it changes to AV1 and if i press again it changes to AV2 and it shoud change to RGB.
On my other Trinitron TV's that i had i could change to RGB after AV1.
I was able to enter service menu but don't know what to do there. There's even an option for RGB centering but i can´t acess it,like it was disabled.
Is this something i can solve in the menu?

What makes you think AV1 isn't already showing RGB? It's pretty rare for TVs to have a separate RGB channel.

Your TV should be able to display RGB via Scart. It has an FE-2 chassis. I suggest you download it and check "Section 4: Circuit Adjustments".
https://www.opweb.de/english/company/Sony/FE-2

You're on the right track with the service menu. If you press "Menu" on the screen from your first pic, the service menu should appear. The manual mentions:
"Before performing any adjustments ensure that the correct model has been selected in the ‘Model Setting’ menu"

See if you can find something like that in the sub menus.

Also, when the screen from your first pic is displayed, you can enter a combination of two numbers to adjust settings. Be careful though, as you can also activate aging mode, restore factory settings and other fun stuff you most likely do not want to do.

Page 22 of the service menu gives a list of possible codes. There is unfortunately no outright code to deactivate RGB, but there's
64 Enable/Disable RGB priority
65 RGB auto-detect enable/disable

Check if these do anything.
Lastly, you could check if the "destination" setting does anything for you, although ADEKR is usually okay for the RGB functionality of the FE-2.
