need a community help to identify those CRT

Post by Gorimaa »

Hi Everybody,

I need a community help to identify those CRT, and maybe help me to find my best one, if possible :)

Please let me explain A little of context:

I live in Cambodia, where everybody switched to flat tv long time ago and If 10 years ago it was easy to find CRT on second hand market, no it is nearly impossible.

But i managed after 2 years of search to find this old nice people shop, with all these CRT for sell on the inside shop shelves :)

Of course, with the weight, they don't want to move any of them to let me look behind in order to check physical video input connection
and of course serial number... but they assured me they are all in working condition (it will have to be verified)
It seemed they look sentimentally attached to these CRT, as every other shop either threw their unit years ago, or sticked to sell old new shitty copy from china.

So these CRT don't come for free , and are quite expensive, especially for here : between 80$ to 170 usd for the biggest...

But it is my only chance to finally get one.

In short: I am looking for a 240p CRT with component input.
In SE Asia we can forget about SCART RGB input (i am French btw , so i grew up with scart everywhere on everything ), and component are quite rare too (i remember seeing some big CRT with only composite input.

I have a RGB PI with RGB to Component converter from Retrothink, and i really would like to Not go to any RGB mod here...

My love would have been a Curved black Trinitron, sadly there is no one there...
I am Still a Sony fan but i also discovered recently on this group some picks of JVC D serie or Toshiba unit and also love their picture mask , maybe even more haha.

Back these picks we can see :

- 2x JVC: N serie and F serie (pick 1 and 6) never heard of them... ?
- some JVC "Musee" and "interiart", don't know them too but i saw some pick of "L'art TV" in this group too and i think i didnt like them too much. It seems that they Musee and Interiart are how 'l art" are named in EU ? maybe SE asia then

About the sonny there are Trinitron, but i think some are either HD or digitalish thing not good for 240p ?

- I tend to think that the Trinitron on the pick "3" and the "13" could be the best ? (sorry blur picture but i took another pick "labelled "3" as well to see lower inscription)
- The 4 and 8 seems digital to me :)
- But there might be some hidden gem too (could the 10 or 11, be a FS120) ?
-
- the Sony 15 is the only one i could see from the back , and it has component input but it always stayed outside the shop so might be broken.

So first thing first : massive respect for this group and community, thanks for reading me, and in advance to anyone that will be able to help me.

Cheers

UPDATE: here is the recap of the advices i received so far :

First : I should check if have remote for service menu then check the hour counter!

About models pictured :

- JVC : interi ar/Musset = l'art but maybe more ancient model ?

- 2: JVC may have component
- 3 : component input, maybe be aslo KV-AR like 13
- 4 : KV-DR Digital DRC
- 5, 10, 15 : maybe a sony KV-29CL10B, or KV-HW21 or SW292M : have component, date between XF and AR ?
- 6: JVC F series= maybe same than D-serie?
- 7 : maybe an European Trinitron KV-BM21: no component
- 8 : some say have digital , some says not (AR or DR?) not sure yet
- 11: old Trinitron with no component, maybe a XF model with only S video input
- 13: SD crt for sure, maybe the best bet, KV-AR21 (more like 27 or 29) : good sound and component input
- 12, 14 : most recent JVC which has been recommended twice but could have DRC, need to check manual

KV-XF/AR large size can be RGB modded, but not 21 inch BM/HW/AR (BX1S chassis)
KV-AR21/29M (3 and 13) seems the most recent model, i might go for one of these two
