Gun Force 2

Post by Marc »

Browsing through Mame on the 'ol Xbox earlier this week, and found the above title. Remember Gun Force 1 being decent enough in the arcade and naff on the SNES, but this... surely, surely the staff behind this also had something to do with Metal Slug? As well as being a great game, it's just so similar in places that the two have to be connected. Don't they? or is it merely a VERY competent rip-off?

It is such a good rip off it managed to get released 2 years before Metal Slug.

I think the Geo Storm/ In the Hunt lot are the same people who made Metal Slug. Or at least they knew each other. Family friends.

Neo Geo is the ultimate clone machine.

R-Type
Final Fight
Mercs
Contra
Twinbee
Zaxxon
Street Fighter 2

Some of them are such blatent rip offs.

Cutting edge of clone technology.

I really hate Gunforce on the SNES, one of the worst run 'n gunners I've ever played.

I've heard awesome things about its sequel, and I can affirm that members that worked on Gunforce 2 went on to develop Metal Slug.

Yes, the original blows, but the sequel is a lot different. You'd never guess it was a sequel of Gunforce if it weren't for the namesake.

Yeah, shoul've checked than first, stupid boy

Forgotten about In The Hunt. Not played that for years, might have to go trak it down now.

Definitely, don't let the first game put you off, this is ten times the game that was.

Bleh, Gunforce 1 was such a horrible game. I bought the PCB, not knowing how much it blows. What a waste of money.

That's odd. I love Gunforce 1 (arcade), but dislike part 2.

I was going to attempt to convert my Gunforce PCB to R-Type Leo, but I'd be happy to sell it to you for a reasonable price.

You can't - theres a security chip in the sound section - you'd get the right sound effects but the wrong music.

Wouldn't do me much good as I have no way to play PCBs ;)

I know, but I don't mind if there's no music. The only reason I'm probably not going to do it is because buying that many blank EPROMs is expensive.

For the price of a Leo PCB vs what you can sell a Gunforce for to pay for it, it's definitely not worth your while spoiling a board ;)

Well, I have no clue what the Gunforce board is worth because I bought it broken for next to nothing and fixed it. I already agreed to sell it to a forum member for 50 bucks, though, so it's not my problem anymore :)
