Re: Gun.Smoke [Arcade/NES]
Aquas - 1,526,000 - 10 - Yes - MiSTer FPGA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXB9boqwG8w
For those not in the know yet, MiSTer uses FPGA which is hardware capable of reprogramming itself to mimic other hardware. In other words, hardware emulation vs software emulation. It's the future of retro gaming preservation, and some Arcade cores are coming out for it, including Gun.Smoke here and Ghosts'n Goblins and plenty of others.
The sound of Gun.Smoke is the most interesting to me from this core in the MiSTer...
...but yes, Gun.Smoke is still awesome.

Re: Gun.Smoke [Arcade/NES]
Interesting stuff - I'm planning to return to G.S soon via Capcom Arcade Cabinet, but more options are always welcome. Also, good to see you playing this! Strafes & Grey counter-assassinations are looking sharp as all hell! Edge of seat performance VS Wolf Chief and TEH PUBRO.
That was palpable distress after the Shenmue III comment.

Re: Gun.Smoke
Was meaning to say something more about the vid in my last post, but I forgot.Aquas wrote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXB9boqwG8w
Looks like the MiSTer is putting all sprites one character (8 pixels) too low. The guys in the windows and all barrels are all in the wrong place, some are even inside the wall.
It's either the bkg being rendered too high or the sprites being rendered too low.
Wonder if Jose has been informed of this?

Re: Gun.Smoke
Good to know mice, I'll run up the core again soon and see if I can notice the difference, then I'll try to report it. There has been some general updates since I posted that video. But yes, the best way to get these things up to speed is to let the core devs know. It's very important to this project as accuracy is a goal.

Re: Gun.Smoke
Just an bump regarding the sprite shift from my submitted score on the MiSTer FPGA here. It seems that was merely a side effect of flipping the screen which was an enhancement feature added to the Gun.Smoke core. In fact, the PCB image can't be flipped. I'll probably just play it non-rotated now - because my HD monitor won't swivel the the game's proper orientation's direction. It looks fine otherwise. That being said, the issue is now known by the developer and it might be resolved.
Mice! Any luck?
I'm actually derusting this in the near future as I'm doing an online marathon run for the game on a twitch marathon on http://twitch.tv/retrogaminglivetv Thurs apr. 23rd around 1pm CST. Also I'll play Commando, 1 loop as well

Re: Gun.Smoke
I've been slacking.
Moved my cabs to a new place and things got in the way. Will take this up again as really soon. Just going to ship 100 twin tiger shark PCBs first...
Pretty sure my gunsmoke PCB got the screen flip, or maybe that was just cocktail-mode screen flipping, come to think about it.
Found your gunsmoke vid from the retrothon: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/641739667
Nice clear! I sneak peeked at the end for the score, will watch it in whole in bed tonight.
