I got a call from the automated Gamestop computer saying that the new copies of Agetech's "Armored Core: Last Raven" is supposed to be in Wednesday afternoon 6/14/2006 at Gamestops everywhere in the USA (assuming that you pre-ordered a copy, of course).
From what Agetech has announced that "Armored Core: Last Raven" will be the very last Armored Core game to be released for the USA PS2 console platform according to a recent issue of Tips 'N' Tricks cheat magazine published in the USA monthly.
Yes, I've got every single Armored game from the very first PSX USA version to the most recently released PS2 Armored Core game -- Armored Core - Nine Breaker.
Here's to hoping that From Software and Ascii (Ascii is known as Agetech 3rd-party video game software developer in the USA) will make a good Armored Core game for the upcoming PS3 console. ^_~

I only have Nexus, and I found it very fun, though horrendously time-consuming. Actually, I found the building phase of the game the real fun part - the action segments are pretty run of the mill. You know, they give you cryptic briefings where you have to find the right gear to use through trial and error, then play the game like a 3rd person shooter. Here's to hoping you can save more than 3 setups at a time, though...while I was into this game, I had sheets of paper keeping track of what I did and whatnot.
The PSP one sounded interesting, where you basically build and tune the AI...alas, I don't have a PSP, and I was skeptical about how smart the AI is in the first place; however, if they made a PS2/PS3 version of AC with a developed AI tuning section, I could see myself falling heavily in love with the game.

For fans of Armored Core, there's a new hardcore mech title coming from the same developer, in coordination with Sega for the Xbox 360, called Chromehounds.

just got this game today, oh boy is this game hard, NX oracle is kicking my ass badly, im not trying to import data like i do to all the armored core its gives me better replay value, this game is stuffed with sick mission and arena unlike nine breaker, AC fans buy this one now better than my favorite AC2 another age.

What's the best PS2 game in the series to start out with? Or, would the first game for the PS1 be best? I would generally shy away from any of the PS1 games in the series, because they may not have aged that well.
Love the "Missles For Lunch" video on this page:

That's just awesome how the mech just tromps all over buildings!

I've only tried Nexus, but I think it's a good place to start as you get a lot of missions and a new control scheme to go along with the traditional setup so you can see for yourself which you prefer. Along with the main game, you get a second disc with missions from previous games. For the money, you get quite a lot in this pack, and kept me involved for a while. The drawback was that you can only keep 3 mechs at a time, and can't save setups anywhere in-game, but I have no clue if other games in the series improved on that.dave4shmups wrote:What's the best PS2 game in the series to start out with?
