I'm currently trying both versions of Batsugun, and doing rather badly on them both at the moment. :D

In original mode, the slowdown is the same on the PS2 version as on the PCB (at least this is what DEL reported awhile back after playing both versions extensively). You only get lack of slowdown in a couple places in Maniac mode, but it's not a big deal really.

That's not true. There's much less slowdown in PS2 original mode. Maybe you got the modes mixed up? Last time I played the pcb I found the difference quite minor in maniac, but very noticeable in original. I doubt I'm just imagining things.

I'm quite sure I don't have the modes mixed up, however again I'm just quoting DEL. Perhaps he can pop in and say something, or maybe Gaijin Punch.

Having watched the Original mode superplay DVD run many times (PCB) and playing through the PS2 version myself, the slowdown looks exactly the same to me. You can see differences in Maniac mode though.

EDIT: I found the post from DEL:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... ght=#76495

He says "Yes I have the PS2 port. The Original Modes are identical in speed of scrolling and score...
...the PS2 Port has no Maniac mode 'programmed slow-down'. In effect, I'd say that scoring high on PS2 Maniac mode is approx 20% harder than doing it on one of those 'autofire rigged' Japanese arcade cabs (which also have the slowdown & the long-range C+ button)."

ESPgaluda.

On Sunday I had 6 lives going into stage 5-2. By the time I reached the last boss I was stupidly down to three lives. I managed to fight the last boss all the way to his final form and lost my last life when his energy bar was down to the last goddamn pixel. That last pattern with the bullets coming from the left and right is an absolute fucker.

I'm getting Mushihime on Friday, gotta finish it before then!

I stand corrected. DEL, having the opportunity to compare both versions without a lengthy flight between two runs, obviously knows better than me. He also knows the game much better, so I trust his words.

I'm having a go at Gunbird because I'm itching to get my first 1CC and this game seems pretty easy... been playing it for about 2 weeks and can get to stage 6, don't know how much further I have to go though.

Carrier Airwing on Hardest settings. Really tough, yet I hope I'll make it one day.
