I actually bought Spriggan for the PC-E once for like 780 yen or something... definitely under 1000. Got Ys IV for the same price on the same trip. Mispriced, obviously. :)

I just remembered that 2/3 of the SCD shooters (Silpheed, Android Assault, Sol-Feace, and Robo Aleste) can be found for under $15 each.

I hope you're kidding... Shmups do not have a Universal taste, they are as subjective as music.

It's very mediocre, but I like mediocre. :P

I got my Pop 'n Twinbee Super Famicom for under 20 dollars. It's an excellent game too. Also, US SNESs are easy to mod for imports.

Something not mentioned in the Wings of Wor review: The first 2 levels of this game are terribly long and boring. Once you've mastered them, it is absolutely tedious to have to keep playing through them on a 1CC run.

Castle Shikigami 2 is available brand new for $9.95. I got mine at EB games, but they seemed to carry only one copy per store when it was released in January (or was it December?). Gamespot doesn't seem to carry it at all.

I bought Fire Shark for 4 dollars today from EB Games, and I feel I got my moneys's worth. It reminds me a bit of MUSHA, oddly enough. The default difficulty level is way too easy, though. I beat it on my first try.

Heh, if you put Fire Shark in a Japanese Megadrive, it comes up as Same! Same! Same!

Somehow, that line really touches me.

Anyways, I purchased Super R-Type last year for $3. Let me tell you: I wouldn't even buy that for a quarter.

I also got RayStorm for like $7. It was sitting all alone in a flea market shelf surrounded by electronic equipment, and was in great condition.

Yeah, I have no idea why the game's default difficulty level is set at easy, but it is one rocking game. Cool music too. I hate how the language detection keeps some games from working, but I love how it works with earlier games. The Japaneese import Thunder Force III actually has "Techno Soft" instead of "Tecno Soft" at the title screen when playing in English mode.

Before it shot up in price, when I bought Giga Wing 2 for DC when it was released in the U.S. for the amazingly low price of 19.99.

But my fave cheap shooter is Mars Matrix. Released for 19.99 also and can be had even cheaper than that. Now if I could just figure out the cube chaining system. Time to pour over Rando's guide again. :(

Man, the DC sure was a Capcom lover's dream wasn't it?
