What shmup are you trying to 1 Credit right now?
my goal this summer is to play Esp Ra De (supergun, course) religiously and try to understand the "greatness" behind it.I wanna learn the whole "16x" scoring system and soon enough will attempt to 1 credit . This will be my first cave shmup that i will play with intent to be sreious.
The cave whore count in this thread is unbelievable!!!

I'm not really on a "1CC or Bust" trip with any shmup I play, but lately I've gotten a bit more comfortable with ESPGaluda and Giga Wing, and am getting a decent ways into them with some consistency...I doubt I'll 1CC either of them very soon since the last bits of each one are quite tough, but those are probably the two I'm closest to it in, for whatever that's worth.
EDIT: And also Mushi's "Arrange Mode" if that counts.

I'm not sure if I can count on 1CC any shmup in the near future actually. My serious shmup interest is only a year or two old and I never got really serious with a shooter until I tried Esp Ra. De. I did get close with that one, reaching the second form of the final boss but then it felt like I hit a brick wall.
When I was in Japan I got to try Espgaluda for the first time and that was the first and so far only 1CC I managed to do. Pretty fun considering the fact that every single credit I used for practice was in the arcades, makes it feel even more special in a way.
Naturally I picked the game up for my cab too since it's my favorite and I've been improving since I got back from Japan too, reaching a score of 44 millions and managing a 1LC.
Taking a break from that game, my current picking is Ketsui. I feel that I'm very inconsistant, sometimes dying on the third stage at 25 millions and at other times reaching the fifth stage with close to 70 millions... I suppose all one can do is keep practicing!

as always i'm playing gunbird but i'm actually improving a bit now as opposed to the brick wall i slammed into last year. i've now got the ps2 revision of the gunbird collection i also have a practise mode so i plan on devoting myself to only playing stage 5 and 6 for the next few weeks in the hope that i'll gain some patterns for the bits i'm stuck on. after that it's plain sailing as i can 1 life the last stage without too much trouble and i only need to do a little work on the charge shot timing for the final form.
picked up empire of steel but don't have my megadrive around at the moment. when i do i imagine it won't take me too long to see the end of that though as when i gave it a quick blast in emulation i got a few stages in on my first life.
i'm also going for a 2-loop clear of fire shark on the megadrive and maybe a hard 1LC

I haven't played ESP RaDe in ages... it's not my favourite but it is probably the one I am best at, I've reached stage 5-2 a few times, but I honestly don't think it (or any other Cave game) is 1CC-able for me.
Currently focusing on Zero Wing on MD, Hard mode... 1-life to a stage 5 checkpoint and then I'm stuck. Doesn't look like it's possible for me either.
Still saving Blast Wind for a day when I'm really depressed at how much I suck.

Mushihimesama and Under Defeat.
I have been working on Mushihimesama for some time now. I don't think I will ever be able to get past the final boss. I really need to shelve this one and move on, but I am so close to the 1cc.
I am not so great at Under Defeat. I can make it to stage 4 on my best games.

I've been working on the following:
SLCing the first loop of Parodius Da with the octopus using Auto Control (which can actually be quite difficult given that it's impossible to select power-ups outside of the game's pre-selected order).
SLCing Bari-Arm for Mega CD at full defaults (I finally managed to SCC it a few days ago... although the last boss took about half a dozen lives from me).
SCCing Keio Yuugekitai for Mega CD at full defaults. Stages 1 through 5 are no longer an issue, however, towards the end of stage 6, things start to get a bit hairy... and then stage 7 is a real nightmare (you really have to ride the bomb-then-option-recharge tactic through the later portion of the level).

too much mushihimesama. my subconscience one day switched to high-score and it messed me up a lot. now im dying from greed and the 1cc is even further from my grasp. guess i gotta find my balance between score and survival which is how i usually play.
oh and i decided, as a daily reminder, to set my log-in password for my work and home computers as whatever game im trying to 1cc. i think its working out because frequently i get caught up with life and neglect my games, which is what happened the past weekend. however, this morning when i turned on my computer and it asked for my password i once again knew what must be done.
good luck to all.

I am trying to 1CC Mushihimesama, at the moment. It isn't going too bad, but the sort-of-beetle miniboss before the last boss is driving me nuts. There's an attack he does, with a fan of almost impenetrable bullets, that always make me lose precious lives. Damn.
And my dream is - of course - to 1CC Project X on Amiga. I've never heard about anyone 1CCing it. I've safely gone through the first three levels (2 levels + bonus "go up! go down!" leve)l, then the third horribly destroys me. I don't even know how many levels the game's got
AND!
Do anyone know where I can find the translations of the small dialogues before fighting the bosses in mushihimesama? I bet they're interesting. If it's never been asked before maybe I'll open a new thread. If there's already a thread for that, if anyone has the link it would be apprecciated

Alas, Ikaruga is going...
Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

I don't play as religiously as I once did, so I think I'm going to try and 1CC Gradius Gaiden... the game isn't that hard, but you have to pay attention. Gradius games are also among the most unforgiving if you die late in the game, too, so it's almost like you have to 1-life 'em later on, otherwise, you're *really* hosed. I remember almost doing it back in the '90s, but I'm sure it'll be a challenge once again now.

I'm still trying to 1cc trizeal. I'm still somewhat green at Shmups. I guess i came in with the Ikaruga generation. So it's taken a lot of practice for me to get where I am (Stage 5 Boss), and so this game has become more of a routine. In doing this, I fear I've taken the fun out of the game. So I'm playing some psyvariar 2, Radirgy, and even rocket knight adventure for good measure. I'll go at it again once I get back from this wedding I have to go to.
wish me luck,
King.

All you people who say "mushihimesama" should specify Original, Maniac, or Arrange mode (or Ultra, if that is actually the case). They're all quite different games. Same with people who say "ikaruga" (specify easy, normal, hard, prototype, etc.)
As for me, I'm working on 1CCing Mushi's Maniac mode with a decent (250+mil) score. Recently I got 1CCs in Original and Arrange. I'm also starting off on Battle Garegga (Saturn rev), playing mostly with Wild Snail and Miyamoto. I think I'd like to 1CC that this summer, but the replays with Stage 7 make me a bit sick to my stomach.
Not sure if I'll be able to get through that. I can get to the end of Stage 5 on 1 credit currently (5.3 mil high score w/ wild snail), but I've only played it a few hours. If I manage all that, I'll move back into Ibara.

Same here. Normally I'll go for the 1CC first, then worry about the score. But for Mushi I decided to play for score first. I am hoping for a 1CC Maniac with a 150+million score. The hard part is to find the time to play it consistently.twe wrote: As for me, I'm working on 1CCing Mushi's Maniac mode with a decent (250+mil) score.
The Spitfire is good to use for a 1CC of the first round.Middlemoor wrote: Strikers 1945 Plus.

I recently got back to Mushihimesama Original. The problem is that I found that my concentration keeps slipping when I try to play a few runs in the evenings after I come home from work, thus making them pretty much useless. If I play on weekends, in the morning, I play much better and actually make progress.
Currently I'm making it to stage 5 on a regular basis, but I still waste too many lives and bombs in the second half of stage 4. I need to find a safe route through the part with the giant centipedes. Additionally, I still tend to screw up near the end of stage 3 or at the stage 3 boss (most often at the first pattern of the second form). I also need to develop a good strategy to cope with the giant flowers in stage 5. Way to go.
I always feel that the unforgiving lack of slowdown in the PS2 version really hinders my progress. Well, maybe I can get enough practice at home to be able to beat the game on the pcb next time I'm in London.
