CRT shelf advice needed.

I have a Mitsubishi XC 3725C, Sony KD-34XBR960 HD, and a Hitachi Josh-o-vision VGA 27" VGA CRT (TATE)

I am looking for advice on a device for them to sit on safely to hold this tremendous weight (600+ lbs)

I plan on mounting x2 55" LCD (3D Sont, LG C1 55) above it on articulating arm wall mounts and am looking for a solution to mount through concrete.

Bonus.. Are their any 55" LCD Wall mounts that Tate on demand?

Any advice, experience, or input would be greatly appreciated.

Only real option for the TV's is custom in my eyes. Literally everything in this day and age (even high-end gaming desks) tend to be made really shallow depth-wise. People reinforce Ikea/Target cubes but kinda still don't trust pressed cardboard... (plus still not very deep at all).

I use a ~1960's tanker desk myself which laughs at 'only' 600 pounds being on it... but that's only temporary (and even at 30" deep I want more space in front of it TBH...) and that'll only fit my 32" widescreen multiformat and a 20" monitor side-to-side (or like my PVM-3230 + 2530, or 3x 20"), and you would need like 2x of those side-by-side (and still a bit too high IMO for an ideal viewing height).

Since I have a table saw and all that good stuff I was going to make one of my own I have planned out at 24" high... but with a solid door and some cinderblock (they make nice looking ones with a nice finish fyi) and no tools you can make a nice long platform of your own...

Bonus.. Are their any 55" LCD Wall mounts that Tate on demand?

There's a bunch out there when you start searching. The one (I guess 'popular' since it's plastered all over the game sites) is like $300+ though... I even found one for my 80 pound native-480p plasma with a HUMONGOUS ~770x400 VESA mounting pattern... (down to a smaller one I use with my 49" 22 pound TCL 4K).

I have never had to go into concrete though, although I know it's possible (my house uses wood stud construction so I always connect to 1-2+ studs depending on the style of the TV mount).

I was hoping their could be a "thing" I could buy but I cant decide on the custom look to fit modern aesthetics.

I'm probably gonna call a granite countertop installer and just get nice slab for the depth I need installed for the bench.

Ill look into the Tate mounts for 55".

For 20 inch CRT's I use those older Ikea cubes stacked with a custom assembly without using the wheels as the dimensions work perfectly on them. 24 can work on it too although they stick out. I don't have any larger crt's anymore but I had tried using the ultra heavy 20 inch BVM's on them and it held the weight great. Anything over 27 probably really needs one of those oldschool CRT TV stands imo.

for me I have a Panasonic TC-29FX20R which is 29" and heavy, I put it on a simple plastic table and it works perfectly fine. Also, it is not sit perfectly on the center, some of it is out of the table but still sturdy.

I have been using IKEA shelves and a cabinet on caster for the 37” CRT and it’s time upgrade to modern and create a pleasing video cluster after 12 years.

Uline sells some heavy duty shelving that is up to three feet deep. I installed 3 of these in my garage and have been very happy with the quality. I’ve considered them for some of my spare CRTs - they can easily accommodate the weight.

I think your best option to fit all three is to build a wooden stand with a counter-style top and either top with stone as you mentioned or laminate / formica in the pattern and color you like. To fit those 3 sets side by side you are looking at something about 8' long, if not even a little longer.

If you dont build yourself or get someone else to build, there are some nice study prebuilt wooden TV stand / entertainment centers out there with ~28"+ of depth, but even the longest single one wont fit more than 2 of those sets.

Something like the below is nice, but at 75" long, you still wont fit more than two. There are sometimes matching style "side stands" available for stuff like this that could possibly work in a 3 piece assembly.

Whoa, I found what would be the perfect 3 piece setup for you but its a bit shallow. 3x 35" wide pieces that look great side by side, but only 22" depth. A version of this that would be 28"-32" deep would be perfect. Actually, I think the 3 piece setup is superior to a single piece as it is imminently movable and and easy to handle vs a huge 1 piece.

If your budget allows, perhaps you might look into getting a skilled cabinet builder to build you such a set with more depth that looks perfect when placed together and good even on their own.

That's Im going for but they don't make modern finishes in required depth and weight load

I also thought of industrial racking but I cant find one that a low height and board insert, just wire mesh and 8' uprights..

Try Costco. The industrial shelving can be built in layers and is super sturdy. I bought two $80 four shelf units for all my arcade hardware and I store my spare PC monitors on them. One unit could be split into 2 layers high side by side and that would easily hold two mammoth 29+ monitors. Plenty deep.

Mines a 37” Mitsubishi with a metal frame.

The racking I looked at wasn’t deep enough for the feet or the backing. The industrial racking was but only had wireframe insert with 4” square holes and welded uprights that were 6-8 tall require me to cut them and reinsert shelving.

I talked to a custom wood guy and he was showing some pretty sweet custom wood benches. I’m kinda leaning towards that or a granite slab but would love to save money and just buy a shelf within those parameters instead

I got tired of hunting for something that could take the weight and would not bow after a year and ended up making some desks and coffee tables myself.

I used fence post, 30x30x5mm angle, then dropped some 25mm marine ply in the hole.
Sprayed with a hammertone enamel cause I suck a spray painting and it auto levels well.


I also made a stronger table for my brother with 40mm angle and tube legs.

I have the same Mitsubitshi crt as you and have been thinking about making a dolly for it with the left over materials.
@ 115kg its defs the heaviest set I own.

I second the suggestions to build something or have it built. You could try and find suitable individual pieces of furniture if you wanted to keep it cheap but it wouldn't look as nice as a single custom piece or matching set. I keep my XBR960 on an old dresser (solid wood) but that's the only large display I have in the setup.
