Does the Gunbird disc have both Gunbird titles on it? Unlike the Strikers 1945 disc (which clearly states I & II are on it), The Gunbird disc merely says Gunbird. Wow, at $35, looks like I can skip the Taitio release of the Strikers shmups and the still pricy Atlus release of the Gunbird shmups.
EDIT: I guess this answers the question of that other recent thread on weather or not X-Nauts still existed. For them, this is a step in the right direction. Now just give us a Strikers 1945 III, Zero Gunner, Zero Gunner 2, and Space Bomber please!

Me too, I find the games to be to similar and not very polished (With the exception of Dragon Blaze + GB2)benj wrote:Does it matter? It's still playable on a japanese PS2.rolins wrote:But is there going to be a japanese version b/c this one says it's korean?
I don't really care much for Psikyo, but the price sure is tempting.

I would assume it has both Gunbird 1 and 2 since it has the logo of the Gunbird Premium Package with has both.Xexyz wrote:Does the Gunbird disc have both Gunbird titles on it? I wasn't aware Gunbird 2 had ever been released on any console other than Dreamcast.loopyeddie wrote:I would assume it has both Gunbird 1 and 2 since it has the logo of the Gunbird Premium Package with has both.Xexyz wrote:Does the Gunbird disc have both Gunbird titles on it? Has anyone gotten this game yet to report on the titles included, or if highscore saves are implemented. ..also wondering about the display options?
And does anyone else find it strange that the delivery status at PlayAsia went straight from "preorder" to ships in "1-2 weeks"?

Since it's been a while, I was wondering if anyone received this yet, and your opinions as compared to the japanese version. I recently discovered strikers on mame, and I'm hopelessly addicted, though the game is fricking hard - it's quite difficult getting used to really fast bullet swarms when I've been playing shiki 2 with its more relaxed pace as of late, and can't get past 1-4 yet. I'll hold off, though, since I've gotten a taste, until I get the PS2 copy.

Alright I got a hold of it.
All four games have the standard viewing options(Forced horizontal, horizontal with scrolling(ugh), Vertical/TATE)
Gunbird 1 port is great although Gunbird 2 suffers from a Loading message that pops up between stages and when the music changes from stage to boss fight(yuck).
Strikers 1 is again a great port although Strikers 2 has some rather obnoxious bullet sounds(loud, screeching, and very annoying) Eventually I got used to the high pitched "BWEEDOBWEEDOBWEEDO" that my ship was firing but still..that was poorly done. Some of the explosions didn't look as good as the ones in Gunbird 1..don't know if that's a port issue or in the game originally.
I did enjoy the fact that the multiple difficulty settings were included for each game. I one-lifed Strikers 2 on the monkey setting
. Although unless I goofed I didn't see a difference in difficulty for Gunbird 2(all of the settings were "Impossible")
Also unfortunate is that Strikers 1 & 2 do not save high scores. In fact you can't even save the game with them so eh.
It sounds to me that this compilation is basically the same games only in a different package. Also note that this is the Korean version and for some reason putting sets of games together in compilations is popular in that region. All the same it is a great deal however as aside from the few niggles the ports are as solid as they ever were.
Nitpickings: aside from practice modes there are zero extras so no huge art galleries like the Saturn/PSX version of Gunbird 1..etc.
Final Words: If you already have both collections then obviously you've seen all this has to offer BUT if not then hey it's worth it. However it looks like Psikyo/Xnauts will never get around to porting Strikers III and Space Bomber....what a shame.
