all joke titles aside (I do like to have fun) this is the game I always recommend to people who feel intimidated by the bullet hell genre. Definitely in no way the "best" CAVE game (well CAVE ala IGS) ever...but as a learning tool with nice difficulty ramping...I really wish more people who just thought bullet hell games were too hard would jump in on this one!
DoDonPachi II: Baby's First bullet hell

This game is boring crap. If anything, it'll turn off people rather than peak interest.

All SHMUP noobs should start with Ibara.
Kiddies always complain that SHMUPs are too hard and unfair anyway, so might as well throw them in the deep end from day 1.

It's not a bad game as an introduction to "grazing is good" type mechanics and it's certainly pretty approachable. But the presentation isn't the greatest since it's largely a rehash of Dodonpachi graphics (some of the unique bee themed bosses they drew for it are pretty cool tough). Unfortunately it's also got some asset theft (some of the songs do not belong to them and appear to be unlicensed in use).
It's not as bad as it's often claimed to be, but it's not exactly outstanding either.

Never played it for more than a few minutes, but looking at difficulty lists it does not appear to be a particularly easy game.

It feels super weird playing the game and hearing how the soundtrack gleefully steals songs grabbed from The Mod Archive, with a few changes.BareKnuckleRoo wrote:It's not a bad game as an introduction to "grazing is good" type mechanics and it's certainly pretty approachable. DDP2 feels like a fangame more than a commercial product.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

If avoiding the TLB fight (score below 200m or whatever it is), it's a pretty easy clear.Creamy Goodness wrote:Never played it for more than a few minutes, but looking at difficulty lists it does not appear to be a particularly easy game.
Boss patterns are static with pretty huge safespots, and the Energy recharge mechanic completely breaks the game.
Playing in Bomb mode is a LOT harder, since the shot does so little damage and you cant abuse the recharge glitch.
Game is real bad though.

But this isn't one. It's a YouTube channel self-promotion thread.
