Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy. Zarquwi basically woke up every morning with one goal in mind: to be the biggest asshole the world has ever seen. He killed without distinction. Americans, iraqis, muslims, christians, it just didn't matter. The man truly did live his life like a Grand Theft Auto videogame.

I don't think his death will have much of a positive effect, his martyr's way of dying will only increase the determination & anger of his followers and also increase the hate towards the US amongst the local populace, because civilians were killed during the attack on Al-Zarqawi.
Kind of reminds me of the highly amusing life sentence handed out to Zacarias Moussasoui (sp?) recently. Not only is there the argument that it's more humane, but it denied him the martyrdom that he so blatantly wanted (and was foolish enough to make obvious to the court).
