Commodore 1702 Display Issue

Post by Steamflogger Boss »

Basically a bar of color distortion. Holding up a magnet gets color to display correctly but of course that isn't a realistic thing to do. Would degaussing help? If so, does anyone have experience with a cheap degauss wand. Not sure I want to sink much into this.

I've had some issues with a 1702 before as well. My problem was similar but not as obvious as it was a faded splotch. I thought it might be burn in, but after using a degauss tool it fixed everything, so you should likely have some luck with a degauss wand. If you buy a cheap one make sure not to leave it plugged in when you aren't actively using it, I've heard they can be fire hazards. If you just use it and unplug it when you're done it shouldn't be an issue.
