Mushihimesama Futari Black Label: Reco's shot and laser are both ridiculously screen filling, the laser has lock-on components, it'd be generally one of the most ridiculous shot types ever made if it weren't for the enemies being able to fire their barrages before being killed due to the game design. Palm's laser fills the screen too, but only when you hit with the middle bullets.

Batsugun: Type B at max level has the strongest weapon in the game consisting of a straight laser, side wave shots, and a lock on electricity type of beam.

Kaikan: Type D literally floods the screen with gigantic walls of flame. Not the strongest in terms of direct damage but instantly hitting everywhere on screen whenever you feel like is damn good in stages.

Blue Wish Resurrection: Not the prettiest game but the laser allows you to fire and forget by just locking on to whatever you feel like. Shot is stronger and more concentrated. Laser bomb gives you a gigantic stream of these bullets for like 3 seconds.

I believe that's a reference to Fire Shark, in which the flamethrower does more or less the same thing, albeit somewhat toned down compared to Kaikan's utter insanity.

I'm pretty sure it is too! Good eye! It's shame the fire weapon in Fire Shark tends to get neglected in favor of the better, but blander looking spreadshot. The flame weapon just isn't as practical there. But it's really damn good in Kaikan so that's nice!
