Twin Famicom component video color issue + power button

Post by VEGETA »

Hello

I finished NESRGB installation after some hardships, SCART RGB + audio works perfectly fine.

However, component video does not show correct colors as seen here.

The Y signal seems fine by itself, shows grey image nicely. However Pb and Pr seems to be the problem.

I have measured the caps via multimeter for Pb and Pr and they are 212uF and 192uF instead of 220uF, while the other similar cap on main board (for Y I guess) is precisely 220uF. Could these be the issue?

what do you suggest?

Another problem:

I have lost the plastic part + spring of power button of twim famicom unfortunately! here is what I have left: https://imgur.com/a/NJaBGLi

I hope someone has a broken twin famicom to sell me the power button assembly, this is very important to me as I couldn't find it elsewhere and will be a waste to buy entire system for it. Please check if you can get one for me and I pay the reasonable price for it.

thanks

Maybe somebody with a 3d printer can help out with the power button?

maybe, but it has a spring not just a plastic part.

I was hoping with someone who actually has a broken system to take out from, will take mere 1 minute.

Or someone who lives in Japan or anyone who can get a broken one from Buyee (or similar sites) then get the button for me. broken systems are about 5-15$ total so I can pay him to get it and ship the button with some extra as a thank you payment xD.

I appreciate anyone who can help.

the color issue is also bad, looks like I would need a component board replacement.

Would like to know anyone here who would be a super nice guy to send you just the button parts that you need. I imagine almost anyone with a broken Twin Fami would rather sell the whole thing for parts rather than just the button and end up with an even more worthless for parts console to sell or dump.

Good luck, but you'll probably just need to get another console, the nice feeling of pressing the power button on a Twin is one of the best things about it.

I totally get your point.

but the twin can be soled for parts easily, all of its parts are modular which can be sold separately.

So for now let's see who has a broken twin who need it to be sold, then see if he is willing to sell its part separately or as a whole... this is the best start.

but how much will the price for a broken twin can be approx.?

I have a Twin in storage myself, but it's new and so not in parts. If it *was* in parts I would definitely go and use my calipers to try and measure the dimensions of the lost part for 3d printing. (I have too many things lying about to tear open yet another system, especially if it isn't to fix a problem). As far as the spring goes, perhaps a replacement can be cut from spring steel. I've seen some people do this for "restoration" videos on YouTube, so maybe it can be done here, if an exact replacement can't be found. I know this isn't super helpful but I figured maybe it can get somebody thinking of alternatives

The cartridge slot on a "junk" Twin FC will usually still work and the disk drive often only needs a new belt to get it going, so they usually go for $30-$50 before shipping on Yahoo Auctions. Would imagine that it would be around $100 total after proxy fees and shipping overseas.

seems like my option is to get a broken cheap one from buyee. they go for 30-40$ though. I would also buy another component board since the color issue is there without a reason.

but I am still hoping that someone here with a broken one can sell it to me for cheap, if he is not willing to sell just the button.

On button side: I am bidding on "junk" twin famicoms in buyee.

On Component side: I checked the resistors and they seem fine, thus maybe the opamp itself is bad. However I ruined my component board pads thus will be getting a new one.

I don't think there is anything bad in main NESRGB board since RGB output by the scart connector with audio is perfect. I guess it is taken from the same RGB encoder chip.
