I got a Pal DOL-001 Gamecube and I awaiting the Prism Gamecube component cables so I can hook it up to my BVM D24. When searching around it seems like PAL GC games can’t play in 480p while the console itself can output 480p. Is this correct? Do I need to use Swiss to force 480p?
If the limitations are on console level then I need to get a US GC.

Re: Forcing 480p on Gamecube
I don't know if there are other solutions besides Swiss to force 480p (or 576p) with a PAL Gamecube, but with Swiss that works.

Do you know how to do it?Thomago wrote:I don't know if there are other solutions besides Swiss to force 480p (or 576p) with a PAL Gamecube, but with Swiss that works.

The cheapest and easiest way today is to grab one of the last few PAL SD Media Launchers (they haven't been made for years and they're just selling through the new old stock until it runs out) and put Swiss on an SD card:

If you rename swiss to "autoexec.dol" in the root of the SD card, it will load automatically on boot without having to launch it from the action replay menu.
In addition to letting you force games to 480p, this will also allow you to load GameCube ISOs from the SD card and homebrew like Game Boy Interface.

Lots of game save exploits available too if you can use a modded Wii to put the files on a memory card: https://www.gc-forever.com/wiki/index.p ... g_homebrew
Combine with an SD2SP2 and that's probably even cheaper than the SD Media Launcher route, though definitely a less convenient boot method.
