Re: Favorite Parodius game
I didn't put in my vote since I have played only two of the listed Parodius games, and not very extensively. Looking forward to you guys' opinions.

Re: Favorite Parodius game
It's a tie between Sexy and Da!, but the latter just edges out the former for me. Sexy is more accessible, but the mission-based gameplay makes it a less tightly designed package. Da!, on the other hand, has some vicious rank, but it's still more manageable than Gokujyou, where rank will absolutely murder you as early as stage 3 if you don't do anything to control it (and sometimes even then). Also, Da! has very nice ports, and the SNES and PCE versions both are much more generous when it comes to rank effects while still maintaining the overall tightness of the game's design.

Oshaberi was originally a console game - is that right?
It has plenty of content - with an arrange mode and the hidden fairy subquest. It also has 2 Omake modes. It also tracks stats for all ships and there's even 3 save slots for in game saving. So for a home game it's a strong candidate but it's really hard to pick a favourite ...Gokujyou aka Fantastic Journey is probably my pick - this week.
The Saturn/PS1 Deluxe Pack has Da! and Gokujyou on 1 disc. Hard to beat if choosing a console port.

The unfortunate thing from my experience with the Parodius deluxe pack is that you cannot rebind controls in the options, meaning you are stuck with a pretty (imo) sub-optimal layout. I always like to have rapid missile and rapid shot mapped to A and powerup to B, and then have individual Shot and Missile on other buttons but you can't do that. It's one of the reasons I got rid of it not long after I grab'd it.
Of all the Parodius games I have spent the most time with Sexy, then Oshaberi, and then a little bit of the others. Of those two, Sexy Parodius is my clear winner. There's something about the branching paths and mission format that just makes the game so more engaging and refreshing. It doesn't feel like a typical Konami stg in that regard, it almost feels like a party game. I don't know if I'll ever be good enough to 1ALL one of these games (I got close with Oshaberi but that game's pacing is pretty slow so it was hard to grind serious attempts) but I enjoy the ride.
I'm a sucker for pretty graphics in Sexy too, though the UFO catcher stage 1 of Gokujou is very charming.
The OP was a real goof for making the poll time sensitive. Why? Was having one week to enter in an option that important to his analytics?

Gokujou, more characters than Da, stage themes I also find better. Plus the home ports added more playable characters, especially the SFC version.
