I tried to do some preventative maintainance on my working PVM 1442Q by replacing the caps on the power supply board.
When switching it on, the fuse F601 4A blew.
I didnt have a good feeling about the caps I got, so I put the original caps back.
I don't have a 4A fuse, the closest i had is a 3A, so I put that in.
This time I only connected the mains power and nothing else when switching it on, and the fuse didn't blow.
I then connected everything else, but when switching it on, the fuse blew again.
Do we think there's a fault elsewhere, or is a 3A fuse likely to blow? Also, what kind of fuse am I to get as a proper replacement, fast or slow? The 3A I used was a fast one.
Can I check the outgoing voltages on the power supply with a multimeter without anything else connected?
Any other advice much appreciated!
