X-Nauts (former Psikyo) done for?
website go bye bye. Either they forgot to pay their bill, changed their name (again), or are no more.

Suppose Gunbird 3 PCB instead of Dragon Blaze from Psikyo
I realize that this is just a hypothetical situation, just suppose Psikyo did release Gunbird 3 as an arcade shmup Jamma PCB instead of Dragon Blaze...now that would have been something, right?
And just what new characters and new fangled gameplay elements such as gameplay mechanics, scoring, chaining, etc. would've Psikyo added to the well established Gunbird shmup franchise in the Gunbird 3 arcade PCB version? (Perhaps something similar to what was offered in Strikers 1999/Strikers 1945 III?)
Sadly, but no, and so it remains that the Dragon Blaze PCB is the last arcade shmup PCB to be release officially from Psikyo.
So X-Nauts is no more then? How sad if that's the case here.....

At least they saved their best for last. Blaze is a fine game, and a step away from their normal trick of reskinning the same game due to the dragon mechanic.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:Sadly, but no, and so it remains that the Dragon Blaze PCB is the last arcade shmup PCB to be release officially from Psikyo.

...which means they were just about to evolve. Thinking about it, I am not sure if they really NEEDED to evolve. As interesting as the Dragon Shot mechanic is, close combat and all, getting close to large enemies to take them out was part of Gunbird2 as well. I guess Psykio has it`s own fanbase that doesn`t necessarily see a problem in the "reskinning" you mentioned, and while most games play quite similar, Strikers 1999 is different enough to Gunbird 2 to call them separate games.bloodflowers wrote:At least they saved their best for last. I guess many people love the 1cc-centric gameplay of Psykio games - not me though, but I somehow give those games a try once in a while. What I liked about Dragon Blaze way more than the altered scoring was the graphics. Man, THIS is a beautiful game. I can`t help but wonder how much of an inspiriation this was for the creators of Mushihimesama. Even more so if you look at the all-pink bullets!

I think its a good thing they are not dead. Sure they have been putting out garbage recently, and what they did to the beloved Assault Suits Valken can never be forgiven, but I just love their slogan, 'NAVIGATING TO UNDISCOVERED'
Perhaps that refers to them discovering how to make shit games as opposed to what they used to make when they were psikyo.
