Picked up a KV-32FS120 last summer that's been working mostly well up until now. Current symptom/issue started out as a small speck that would sometimes appear whenever the screen continuously switched from a dark to bright screen in a short period of time. Since then its been slowly growing and is now exhibiting these strange hair-like artifacts that sort of dance around slightly.
Here are two videos below:

- I opened up the back and didn't hear any high pitched whines or see any obvious arcing. Everything looks clean.
- Self Diag screen screen shows no history off errors/failures
- The issue only shows up after the set has warmed up after a few minutes.
- The issue persists and slowly fades away after the set has been powered down (roughly 10 seconds for it to fade completely)
- The issue happens regardless of video input
- Adjusting brightness and contrast/picture has no affect on the issue.
Not sure what's going on here but any input would be appreciated, even just a name/term for the issue so I can research further on my own. Trying to figure out the nature of what I'm dealing with before blindly doing a recap and hoping for the best.
Thanks for reading and if anyone needs any other information I'll do my best to get it to you.

Is it affected by placing a magnet on the side or front of the tube? Can you make it move or anything?

Did the TV suffer any impact at some point before this began occurring?
I've never seen anything like this but hopefully a fix is found soon.

The hair-like pattern dances about on it's own, but always remains on the mid/lower left edge of the screen. I held a weak kitchen magnet up to it and saw no effect. This tube is relativtly free of purity issues so I'd rather not temp fate by holding up a stronger one.Josh128 wrote:Is it affected by placing a magnet on the side or front of the tube? The TV did not suffer any impact but it was rocked back and forth a bit during a stop on the drive home from where I originally picked it up. We unwisely sat it upright in the back of the car (rather than laying it down flat on it's face) thinking that the 165 pound beast would not budge.Taiyaki wrote:Did the TV suffer any impact at some point before this began occurring?
Someone on another forum suggested that maybe one of the thin horizontal wire scaffolds holding the aperture grill has snapped and begun to coil up inside of the tube. This doesn't really sound plausable to me considering there are no other defects apparent in the aperture grill and the issue is localized to that one area. If anyone more knowledgeable feels like chiming in to confirm/deny this theory I'd love to hear their thoughts.Taiyaki wrote:I've never seen anything like this but hopefully a fix is found soon.

Re: Strange issue on Trinitron KV-32FS120.
The point of the horizontal stabilising wire(s) was to stop the strips of the grill itself from moving or vibrating. Then again, why would it be lighting up on a dark screen?
Re: Strange issue on Trinitron KV-32FS120.
If there's a loose wire moving around you should be able to make it move by gently tapping the side of the cabinet, no?
Re: Strange issue on Trinitron KV-32FS120.
Correct. Tapping on the side has no effect on the issue so I don’t think it’s a loose wire.
Good luck or cry.
