suddenly, massive slowdown in my Shikigami no Shiro 2

Post by infested_ysy »

Hay shmups forum,

I have a copy of Shikigami no Shiro 2 for the PS2. Is it normal to get massive slowdowns in the later stages (from the stage where one meets the 40-year old knight brothers boss)? I get so many slowdowns in the later stages, it's not even funny (died quite frequently too, because the FPS would suddely jump back to normal once the amount of bullets on screen reduces, causing the enemy bullets to suddenly ZOOMJ on my character before I could react). Is the arcade version of it like that?

the slowdown is really helpful but if you want to die quicker: press start and turn "wait" off.
and yes the slowdown is in the arcade version its more or less 1:1

Just to add, the slowdown in the Xbox version is much less pronounced than the Dreamcast edition. Well so I find anyway, maybe my DC is on its way out. Btw, something has been niggling me about this game. I heard of an extra options menu that becomes unlocked at some point allowing you to change various aspects of the gameplay. I have played the Xbox version for quite some time and it hasn't changed, and the DC version is the same, although I have hardly played it at all. What is the criteria for unlocking this extra menu and is it even available on either DC/Xbox or is it exclusive to PS2? Thanks.

I believe you have to 1cc the game.

Yep that's what I did to get it. The menu gives you the option to speed up the game or slow it down for bolth extreme and normal game types.
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.

I tried those options in the PAL PS2 version, and, believe me, it isn`t worth bothering. Slowing bullets down, making them bigger or smaller and all that stuff only alienates the game. There is some kind of "buzzing sensitivity" option too, meaning you can make x8 a lot easier; but after all, those options are more like cheating.
