New Component to RGB SCART + VGA Transcoder

Post by kitty666cats »

My buddy John from Scotland just released this the other day, I’ve been excited watching the whole process (from CADs to prototype units to production etc!) as he got to work on producing these - which took a little longer than expected, global parts shortage sux!

The yellow RCA w/ the component + audio input is not used, he included it on there should he plan on making some sort of fun revision / if anyone wanted to modify their own transcoder or something, heh (have not heard of many people ever doing that, but would be cool to see)

SCART output is obviously intended for 480i/240p, dip switch for either RGBS or RGBHV out on the VGA connector - as well as a dipswitch for, essentially, utilizing microcontroller for bypassing Macrovision etc on the input (I was unaware there was Macrovision over component! John may use it as a catch-all term for copy protected sources…?)

I have a prototype unit on the way from him & the first run is available at the link above. Will let you folks know how it goes when I get my hands on it to toy around / chain it with OSSC and GBS Control and all that good stuff :)

Bumping this again, it seems there aren't really any readily-accessible component to VGA transcoders out there at the moment (linuxbot3000 must be temporarily screwed by the global parts shortage, I would imagine. I forget if anyone else makes these at present!)
