Any female Japanese shmup players do Superplays?
My question here that has been on my mind over the past few days:
Are there any female Japanese shmup players who have done a Superplay that was done as a VHS tape or DVD?
I'm sure there are some female ace shmuppers in Japan who have produced some Superplays captured on VHS or DVD... ^_~

I was just asking if there are ANY ace Japanese female shmuppers who've produced their own Superplays via VHS or DVD. That is all. ^_~
I know gender doesn't matter. For the betterment of the 'World Record' arcade PCB gaming hobby -- in this case pertaining to Japanese arcade PCB shmups, it's nice to see both sexes recognized for their shmup achievements. (This isn't cause for a 'flame war' here, folks, as I have no intention of starting one...) ^_~
Just as puzzler-type genre arcade/console games are created for both sexes, this applies to shmups as well -- actually this applies to all genres of video gaming/arcade gaming really if one stops and thinks about it. ^_~
I know there are female gamers out there who don't play "girlie made" crap video games (because it doesn't cater to them anyways) and play some serious shit at their favorite genre. So be it. ^_~
Going a little 'Off Topic' here: This post's topic reminds me of that professional all-female team that kicks ass going in around the USA playing those First-Person-Shooters and entering FPS contests...what was that group's name anyways? I remember that a major PC component producer had hired them...what was impressive was that it was an all-female group that were very good at what they did best, play FPS on PC platform.
When Danica Patrick was asked how she thought about this year's 2006 Indy 500 race coming in 8th place (in 2005's Indy 500 race -- she placed 4th), she said that she made some mistakes (in the last 10 laps of the race) but tried her best. Of course, if she had won the 2006 Indy 500 race, history would've been made -- making her the first woman ever to win the prestigious Indy 500 held by exclusively male-dominated winners' circle in the past. I would've liked to seen her win. There's always next time... ^_~

Thanks for the clarification.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:(pertaining to boobs here) ^_~
As for the topic at hand, as has been said, obviously the gender of the player wouldn't affect the quality of the play (if you're good at a game you're good at a game, both genders have two eyes and ten fingers, that's all that matters), but seeing as so few gals play shmups (I might take issue with the claim that "like puzzlers, shooters are aimed at both genders"...most [but not all] strike me more as "action movies" than "chick flicks," though, of course, your gender doesn't entirely determine your tastes), I hafta say I would find it interesting to see a gal who's devoted enough time to one to master it at the "superplay" level...of course, seeing ANYone that good at a game is impressive, a female would just make it more unusual, heh heh.

Read this. Zuho doesn't make superplay videos per se, but has a Ketsui and Progear strategy section on her site. She has 2-looped Progear, and gotten to 2-5 on Ketsui. Pretty impressive "for a girl".
And for the record, I think it's a fine question. What the fuck is wrong w/ the a little curiosity?

Zuho -- Two years to master Progear?...
For Gaijin Punch,
Thanks for the interesting story of meeting up with Zuho & TAC...must've been cool to be in the actual presence of TAC -- a master shmup player. ^_~
A two whole years to master Progear on loops 1 & 2 for Zuho? Damn, that is some practice... ^_~
Reminds me of my time trying to get the hang of the NES Tengen version of Klax -- played it many times in 1991 and into 1992...the Atari Games arcade game of Klax finally showed up in Modesto, CA at a local arcade in spring of 1994. I decided one day to see if all that practice would pay off in my gaming experience for an arcade gaming session of Klax. So yes, it was that one fine day in April of 1994, I did 1CC the arcade game of Klax with an overall score of 6,000,000+. It took me about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to do that 1CC on that particular Klax arcade upright. The local arcade closed it's doors one sad day in June of 1994 because of rampant drug dealings there. It really was considered the last "true" arcade because it didn't have any of that prize redemption machine shit found at other amusement places at the time. ^_~
I know all about that being "in the zone" when it comes to arcade games... ^_~
Fewer people ever achieve being "in the zone" in their lifetime...takes lots of time, patience, and of course, practice. ^_~

Nothing, but I loathe when people look for people of a specific gender doing activities for which their gender doesn't have any relevance. To me, doing that seems to implicitly suggest that gender matters -- because if it didn't, why ask? It's a self-perpetuating thing.GaijinPunch wrote:And for the record, I think it's a fine question. Thank s GP for the read, and I envy you for the meeting with Zuho and TAC
I see that you still want to translate the big Famitsu interview.
If I had more free time (and some help from my behalf) I would have a go at it.
But I m too busy until december I think. and I must admit that Mihara use a special Japanese...
BTW Zuho did have (for a short time) her Hiscore in Arcadia. with Progear.

So girls can go : "Hey, cool, there are other girls doing XYZ, so I'm not the only one, so I'm not wierd or some half-male freak of nature."Nothing, but I loathe when people look for people of a specific gender doing activities for which their gender doesn't have any relevance. To me, doing that seems to implicitly suggest that gender matters -- because if it didn't, why ask? It's a self-perpetuating thing.
So guys can go : "Hey, cool, there are girls too doing XYZ, so it's not just guys, so I'm not wierd or some hopeless nerd that'll never find a girl to share interests with".
All hail the data points for positive self confirmation.

Right, but in arcades, the girls generally stick to the print club, while the boys are smoking cigarettes by the pack playing the games. PC-E Fan was just asking if any women had broken the mold, that's all.Nothing, but I loathe when people look for people of a specific gender doing activities for which their gender doesn't have any relevance.
PC-E Fan: Nice story. Damn... that's a long time to be standing and playing a game! I always used a stool, even on standups, when I had long sessions.
One day. I am just too busy at the moment. My lunch breaks at work are now filled with work, and my freetime is quite filled w/ bullshit.I see that you still want to translate the big Famitsu interview.
I'll be more than happy to host it if you come up with something.

This may be a little off topic but I remember one time I went to Gamestop and their was a cute girl at the register and I was curios if Metal Slug4and5 got any preorders she looked at me a little mad and says of course I love metal Slug because it likes contra who does'nt? I have preordered it myself she say's. I was pretty stunned and almost proposed to her right their.
I did great so much water and milk that I threw up when I was little.

Not sure what came first, the chicken or the egg, but there's a user icon of that blond guy w/ a mustache at Zuho's BBS, which is called "American".Eps wrote:Haha, I thought the 'blonde, moustache, hairy, blue eyes' cartoon in the article was a Japanese caricature of a typical American.
