Im wanting to output rgb from mister to a pvm and hoping to take the rgb out from the pvm through a bnc to db15 cable into the 9a60 and component cables to my 27" sony crt.
Question is.... Will the 9a60 function with csync on only v or h?
Hopefully people still remember what the 9a60 is lol, they are pretty old but good transcoders.
Audio Authority 9A60 vga to YPbPr transcoder, csync on v?

Re: Audio Authority 9A60 vga to YPbPr transcoder, csync on v
There's some old posts and threads on those things here... if memory serves me right, csync might be a nuisance on the original 9A60 without modding / it works fine on the 0A60A...? There should be a few people who still use theirs kickin' around, hah
I am sure your best bet is the logical choice, sending csync to H. But it could be weird and require pure Vsync in addition to csync/H+V on pin13. Do you have an Extron interface kickin' around? If you already have one, that would probably clear up any potential issues. If not, someone else here will chime in soon enough

+1 on the Extron. Those things are super cheap and do an awesome job converting sync types. I have an RGB 192 that I picked up a while ago for around $20 and I'm always finding new applications for it.

True, they are never a bad purchase! Can use them on either the input or output of GBS Control for RGBHV to RGBS, any weird sync issues that arise on a new monitor, and a zillion other things. I really ought to dig mine out and just stick it permanently into my setup, there's not really *ever* any downside to using an Extron RGB interface...matt wrote:+1 on the Extron. I have an AA 9A60 in my setup, and it works by sending Csync to H and V inputs (both at once). Though I agree with the advice to use an Extron RGB, I used it in the past to convert RGBS to RGBHV before I switched to this unconventional configuration

I currently use the 9A60 and yes, you only need to send Csync to V.
Extrons are nice to have for other reasons, but you don't need one in this instance.

Are you sure only V and not csync to both? Sending csync to only V out of the two pins sounds so… against all “standards”, hahaBazookaBen wrote:I currently use the 9A60 and yes, you only need to send Csync to V.

Also, does that mean this is one of the rare instances where using a T-adapter (on the PVM out, with a 5 BNC to VGA cable) to send sync to both H & V is ideal?

I'm sure, I made the cable for it. Chopped of the end of a female VGA cable and routed the H sync wire to the V pin new male connector. I've also done it with a two VGA BNC>VGA adapters with the BNC sides connected to each other.
Don't know about your other question, I use composite sync from CRT Emudriver, and all the old consoles output compsite sync of course. PS1 needed a sync separator though since it doesn't have a pure sync output.

Haha, that is so weird of them to do that! I wonder if that was intentional of them? I would guess ‘no’ and they assumed every user would likely just be feeding the units separate H&V from things like HTPCs and other era-appropriate gear… because csync from PCs is always on pin 13!

They also made their power input centre negative for some strange reason.kitty666cats wrote:Haha, that is so weird of them to do that!
