This guy's radio show is carried by a mass media corporation called 'iHeartMedia,' because of course it is.
I'd typed up a post about this guy just last week - but then couldn't find the source for what I was trying to reference, so didn't post it.Sengoku Strider wrote:(re: Jesse Kelly)

That is exactly what was striking me when I was hearing Jesse Kelly directly say to kill communists and implore his listeners with urgency that their children are going to be fighting this "war". - like, "people tolerate this kind of talk on nationally broadcast radio?!!" Episode after episode Jesse Kelley riles and weaves an allusion that liberals are communists. Now he and other conservatives are (and iHearMedia) are crossing the threshold of calling outright for the murder and prolonged war against "the enemy". Sean Hannity opens his radio show with a count of "days under siege" by the "Biden regime". These are major broadcasters (Jesse Kelly on the come up?) pushing this discourse, it's shocking to hear so openly how they're priming and marketing civil war.The Overton window, also known as the window of discourse, describes the range of ideas tolerated in public discourse.
One other thing to keep in mind in connection with the whole Overton window thing is that, according to conventional wisdom, when either the left or the right goes too far off the rails the "center" will abandon it and force it to moderate in order to stay relevant; it's the reason people like me are constantly being told to be grateful that Manchin and Sinema are refusing to allow us to raise taxes on the wealthy in order to pay for health care. Somehow, though, when not just the fringe but mainstream rhetoric on the right is arguing for both violence against and (even more worringly, IMO) open electoral disenfranchisement of their opponents, somehow that is not considered beyond the pale, to the point that the right is projected to clean up in the upcoming elections; all the while, nobody is grabbing the swing voters by the collar and demanding an explanation - "you call yourself a centrist, yet seriously still consider this a viable option?"Koa Zo wrote:"people tolerate this kind of talk on nationally broadcast radio?!!"
Like all things, this is manufactured top down. Like I said, we're groomed constantly from birth and television has taken the role of church in that respect: the mechanism the dictators use to quell dissent and wrong-think. It's completely arbitrary - if those in power wanted to raise the minimum wage it'd be an acceptable thing to think and speak about out loud, but instead it's in the same bucket as molesting trees or something.Koa Zo wrote:edit: just looked up what "Overton window" means. had never heard of that.
Always reliable scapegoats and boogiemen, those are.oh, wait, my bad, Jesse Kelly clarifies - the Chinese, the Russians. Those are the communists he is talking about preparing to go to war with.
Oh, OK. Though I must say that the party representative for my faculty is a stunning beauty of a woman, well-read (OK, she cites Chomsky) and with an absolutely killer volley and serve, apparently. What kind of "war" these fellows would like to wage (*nudge nudge, wink wink!*)?BryanM wrote:Always reliable scapegoats and boogiemen, those are.oh, wait, my bad, Jesse Kelly clarifies - the Chinese, the Russians. Communism had a rough go of things for a while after local mom discovered this one weird trick.Randorama wrote:Finally, someone who invokes "communists" as a bogeyman for lovers of freedom (well, bogeymen, bogeypeople...whatever it is).
As someone who complained about USA's obsession with the more vanilla concept of "socialism" and its mildly flavoured association to PRC, I feel that "we" are making progress.

Yeah, it's funny how no one believes in collapse until it's already over and done, even with a straight line to the iceberg in front of us. Global warming has gotten to the point that political cartoonists can't even do the "it snowed so global warming is a hoax" comic anymore, since it never snows where they live now.EmperorIng wrote:for everyone except Bryan
When you're the type of guy who closes his eyes and sees visions of three-headed John Kerry monsters shaking cloven hooves with an android Bibi Netanyahu wearing an "ISIS=MOSSAD" button who is staring at a being wearing three stars of David that has the Federal Reserve with missiles on top for a head offering up a contract to destroy the Earth as the "Enemies of Israel" while the ghost of J.P. Morgan looks on and CNN plays videos of beheadings in the background all taking place in front of M. Bison's evil control room from Street Fighter V except with the Earth in the coils of the most prominently Jewish snake of all time...BryanM wrote:R.I.P., Dees. You were a fun and interesting one..

Bryan I was surprised it even went to trial, and will be moreso if the vile thing actually sees meaningful time.BryanM wrote:ISN'T THAT FUNNY????!

That Punished Bernie video Mischief posted is barely hyperbole for how these people are.
