Can I disable interlacing on my Panasonic TC-29FX32L (CRT)?
I have a Panasonic TC-29FX32L that I'm not being able to disable the interlacing. Anyone has any idea of what could be done?

What do you mean "disable the interlacing"? That's a property of the signal, not the television.

I know right, but the OSD is having the same problem.Guspaz wrote:What do you mean "disable the interlacing"? That's a property of the signal, not the television.

If it's a 15 kHz TV, then it's natively a 480i or 576i TV and of course the OSD will also be interlaced. 240p from retro consoles isn't a real resolution, it's just 480i with the timing messed up a bit so that the two fields overlap instead of being slightly offset.

BS. The tv OSD itself should have an option for deinterlacing. If the entire thing is interlaced, it doesn't matter what signal I try to input.Guspaz wrote:If it's a 15 kHz TV, then it's natively a 480i or 576i TV and of course the OSD will also be interlaced. 240p from retro consoles isn't a real resolution, it's just 480i with the timing messed up a bit so that the two fields overlap instead of being slightly offset.
This guy managed to deinterlace his tv from the controller, but it's a Sony:

That button was for CEEFAX, a British information service. I doubt support for it is common, I've never seen such a feature on a CRT TV, Sony or otherwise.

I think he’s referring to this: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=41357Guspaz wrote:What do you mean "disable the interlacing"? That's a property of the signal, not the television.

Nah, people said it's the number of NASA, to call out the OSD samba party, the screen dancing like people in Rio carnival. Seems legit.strayan wrote:I think he’s referring to this: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=41357Guspaz wrote:What do you mean "disable the interlacing"? That's a property of the signal, not the television.

I don't know what OSD is referring and I have an electronics degree. I don't know Portuguese but that's cool the CRT takes PAL and NTSC.
I know Brazil has bizarro world PAL-M but you should take Guspaz's advice and realize your CRT isn't British and won't have a CEEFAX de-interlace option and is debatably a bad idea to use such an option to begin with.

No offense but I got a good chuckle out of this. Great example of "fresh out of university"

For academic discussion, my osd is interlaced with an interlaced or no signal and extremely jumpy with a progressive signal.
Things like overlaid messages like the selected input being displayed mirror the signal type - interlaced with interlaced or no signal, progressive with progressive signal.
SD Sony Trinitron
Not sure what the anticipated benefit is by op.

He demanding how to find a non existent option on his Panasonic.
He wants the laggy 100hz progressive DRC processing that some digital Sonys have.
I can never read the manuals he links in this English typing forum, but it would be funny if it didn't even support 480p.
Good luck Cowboy.

Did I put a gun to your blockhead and demanded anything? Why do you even bother replying my threads dude? Ever since I've got to this forum every single reply of yours to my threads was you being a jerk. Do you want attention so much that you reach to the point of lying about someone? Geez, get help.

Thanks for the answer. I'm really smart and really dumb at the same time. I was trying to think of what OSD could mean to someone whose native language isn't English. Took me a long time to make the connection that SNES 3CHIP is what they call 2CHIP is German.maxtherabbit wrote:On-screen display i.e. the TV's menusNewSchoolBoxer wrote:I don't know what OSD is referring

Hint: Use a video processor. Lots of options for 240p from 480p PC signals. Happy Christmas.
We apologise for the inconvenience
Re: Can I disable interlacing on my Panasonic TC-29FX32L (CR
Some Trinitrons do have a deinterlacing feature that can be enabled in the service menu. It's on the BA-5/5D models (the larger size FS100, FV300, etc). There's an option called INTL that will remove the offset; it even lets you switch between even and odd fields. It works well and is kind of fun, but it is kind of a pain going into the service menu every time you want to use it.Guspaz wrote:That button was for CEEFAX, a British information service. This jungle chip used in the BA-4/4D curved Trinitrons apparently does have this capability (it's listed in the datasheet), but it's not present in the service menu on those units. If somebody really was interested in enabling it, they could probably do so with an I2C hack.
I've never seen another TV that does this, although I'm sure some must exist.

Re: Can I disable interlacing on my Panasonic TC-29FX32L (CR
I wonder if my adjusting the INTL option in the BA-5D service menu has anything to do with how I got a TVone C2-1100 to successfully display downscaled 240p YPbPr on my 32FS100 a couple years back? It is one of the units marketed as a ‘down converter’ and not ‘scaler’ and people in the thread had previously come to believe those ones didn’t work for 240p (didn’t work with the pre-made profiles, I had to dial in 240p manually which was a huge pain as the 1100 only has an OSD!)
I sorta doubt it, but wish I still had that TV (and converter) to test this possibility, heh
