Shmup new physical releases

Any shmups released in modern times on a physical format? I know of the 4 Toaplan releases on Genesis.

Yeah, same question as above. There have been TONS of new games on physical media in the last few years if you're looking at modern consoles.

Wow I'm going to have to break down and buy a Switch. Are those Switch shmups on some kind of cartridge or SD card or something? I don't know anything about the Switch obviously but I thought it was all downloads.

How about new or reissued shmups on old consoles? I'll probably buy Flight of Pigarus.

Switch games come on proprietary carts, which, to be fair, are basically just fancy SD cards. I don't personally see the difference between them and something like a HuCard. If you'd prefer a disc, the PS4 has also had a lot of love and you'll find basically the same collection of games on either console (with PS4 actually having a few key exclusives like Battle Garegga and Ketsui).

I think the M2 ShotTriggers release of Dangun Feveron is also a PS4 exclusive and it also has a physical release. I love that game!

How about a list of releases with release years for any of the classic consoles so I can check relatively recent releases for shmups?

Panorama Cotton is being rereleased on Mega Drive and Genesis cart, though publisher Strictly Limited/Inin haven't told us whether the PAL version can run at 60hz, or whether it's optimised 50hz, or whether the Genesis cart is region free.

Actually, Flight of Pigarus had a physical near the beginning of 2021, and maybe just got a reprint this year. But it definitely saw release months ago.

Have pre-ordered physical Mushihimesama for Switch.

Tempted to pick up Crimzon Clover physical for Switch.

Gairies has been re-released for MD on cart too.

There's a pile of physical games available. Didn't Ketsui Deathtiny get a physical release?

Livewire's Cave ports - Mushihimesama, Espgaluda II, Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu - are Switch only. As is Crimzon Clover. While I'd rather have Ketsui & Garegga over any of those, PS4 is going to be an afterthought for a lot of Japanese developers going forward now that Sony's ditched Japanese support.

One also has to wonder how much road the PS4 still has ahead of it, with the PS5 apparently selling faster than any PlayStation before it (hopefully a lot, I don't want to drop $700 on a new console). The Switch, on the other hand, appears to be Nintendo's horse for the foreseeable future, with it still selling like crazy and getting Breath of the Wild 2 next year.

Didn't Ketsui Deathtiny get a physical release?

Every ShotTriggers game has had a physical release, except Sorcer Striker. Which sucks because I want that way more than Tiger Heli.
