The Quest for 8k

Pretty good so far. I was more able to test some settings and sure enough 8k/60 felt more responsive than 4k/120. Here's hoping they can do a 4k/240 mode down the line.

Calling it a native 8K projector is a bit misleading, since it's really a 4K LCoS panel using pixel shift. So yeah, the image will be better than pure 4K, but the pixels are still ultimately bigger, and focusing a projector precisely enough to resolve that extra resolution is a pretty tall order too. When I was still using a 1080p home theatre projector on an 80" screen, even getting *that* focused precisely enough to resolve as 1080p was impossible, though modern projectors that support digital focus control may allow you to get much closer.

I'm sure it still looks pretty great, though. Pixel shift *is* an improvement over not having it.

Never called it an native 8k projector, when I said native I was talking about the source. The previous generation NX9 could display an 8K image, unfortunately it did not support a native 8K source. These new NZ series do accept native 8K source.

Guspaz if you are around you are welcome to come by. My next endeavor will be the HDFury Vrroom.

Here is a pic of Megaman X running in 8k integer scaling on Retroarch. 8k/60 is pretty fast and motion resolution is superior to my oled at 60hz. I'm not using a shader, just an overlay.Image

That's a big X.

Would be cool to see some OSSC etc. upscaled to 8k on this thing.

I'm waiting for my HDfury VRROOM to come in. Supposedly it can upscale 1080p to 8k in 1ms. We'll see.
