What are differences/similarities of MVS/PCB Strikers 1945?
I just recently aquired a MVS cartridge of Strikers 1945 Plus and was wondering what are the similarities and differences between the original Psikyo arcade Jamma PCB of Strikers 1945 and the MVS version of Strikers 1945 Plus?
In Japan, a revival of interest in the MVS version of Strikers 1945 Plus is gathering at Japanese game centers. That is good to know. ^_~

The MVS one plays on a hori monitor (as all MVS games do) and has borders down the sides of the screen while the other Strikers games all play Vert.
As I recall its the last of the games (world-of-arcades would have confirmed) but (again as I recall) reuses graphics from others...
It is often considered the best vert shooter on the Neo but the worst of all the Strikers (on account of slowdown).
I like it but usually forget I have it.

Strikers 1945 Plus is a remixed version of Strikers 1945 II. It´s as easy as that. Like DDP->DDP Campaign Version, or Street Fighter II->Super Street Fighter II.
One might argue which one (II or Plus) is actually better - in my opinion, Plus is a much more well rounded game, but I began playing shmups with Plus, so I might be biased. On the other side, I think many "old" Strikers players give Plus little to no credit, because it´s "different".

There's far more bullets in Strikers+ than there is in vanilla Strikers. I think the default options sets your starting life count to two as well - one active and one in stock - as opposed to the default three of most other shmups. Most stages and graphics are recycled, with a few changes to fit the bordered vertizontal screen display.
I can't really remember correctly, but is there a ship or two that is exclusive to Strikers+? I can vaguely remember a red plane that was pretty good that I haven't seen in the other games...
I like Strikers+ but prefer regular Strikers myself.

the most importent difference between Strikers+ and other Strikers games is the bullet speed. Strikers+ is a lot slower, giving it an overall Cave-like feel. Technically, it´s clearly inferior, with drab colours, abundant slowdown and no tate. But the gameplay is advanced from Strikers 1945 II. Some patterns which are cheap to deal with in II got reworked, the charge shot underwent some refinement, but still it´s mainly the slow bullet speed that makes it very different to play from II.
yes, there is. Don´t remember the name now, but actually each Strikers game has a plane exclusive to it.I can't really remember correctly, but is there a ship or two that is exclusive to Strikers+? I can vaguely remember a red plane that was pretty good that I haven't seen in the other games...

That's the US/Euro mode default. The Japanese default is 3 lives per credit.Icarus wrote:I think the default options sets your starting life count to two as well - one active and one in stock - as opposed to the default three of most other shmups.
That would be the Fiat. There's also the 7th hidden plane, the Ascender.Icarus wrote:I can't really remember correctly, but is there a ship or two that is exclusive to Strikers+? I can vaguely remember a red plane that was pretty good that I haven't seen in the other games...

In Plus the plane was the Fiat G-36 I think. It's alright, but it's special shot is very useful.raiden wrote:the most importent difference between Strikers+ and other Strikers games is the bullet speed. Strikers 1945 Plus

btw - The Old Mills is playing Strikers 1945 Plus again, says he wants to carry on from where he left off (2-6) and go 2 loops ALL.
He's playing with 3 lives start, which Kiken states is the Jap default - so that's ok.
I've forgotten the code for the Ascender - was it UP7, DOWN7 etc...??That would be the Fiat. There's also the 7th hidden plane, the Ascender.

that´s hard to say, because 2 is a remix of 1 alreadyIt's actually a remix of both 1 and 2, isn't? Like Sonic Wings Special is a remix of all the other Sonic Wings games.
well, I can just say my scores are best with the Pancake. When I got the game, I used all planes equally, but after some time the hiscore list showed clear Pancake domination.I perfer using the Pancake plane for it's spacial shot laser attack.
