ZUN games

Post by 1up »

After reading the free hardcore gamer magazines article on imperishable night I really wanted to try this game.

I went to http://www16.big.or.jp/~zun/ and dont understand diddly squat. I can navigate by the names displayed at the bottom of my page but couldt find anywhere to actually purchase the game?

Can anyone tell me how I purchase ZUN games?

I would also like to get my hands on perfect cherry blossom, the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil and the other cool looking shmups on that site

Paletweb has all of Zun's games in stock. Our high score threads have links to the trial versions, btw.

Shoot The Bullet doesn`t have a trial at all, or am I just looking in the wrong places?

Shoot The Bullet isn't all that great, IMO.

I mean, you dodge a bunch of bullets, charge up your camera, run into them, and take a picture. Over and over. It SCREAMS "gimmick" in so many ways.

As far as I know, there's no demo for that one: all 4 of the other PC "Shanghai Alice" games have demos though (not to mention the fighting game, "Immaterial and Missing Power," based on the shooters' characters, and several other "tribute" games you can find by other makers, check postman's site). Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Night are me two favorites: ZUN's site doesn't actually sell the full games, but it has the demos. To buy the full games, I'll also recommend the Palet web store that was mentioned earlier, I bought my copies from them.

You can consider Shoot the Bullet as a bullet pattern practice game. Not bad but not good either. Palet is the best place to buy them http://www.himeyashop.com/ has them as well but that shop is more expensive.

Somewhat related although not a shmup, I'd like to know where the Touhou Fighting game went. I want to see where I can buy it.

Also forgot to mention this site: http://www.shrinemaiden.com/
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

I guess the gameplay mechanics go a bit deeper than that (making holes into bullet patterns via photographs it seems), but overall it seems to be a "pacifist-shooter". I kinda like ZUNs games, but I dislike the extremely small sprites and the scoring systems that could fill books. The patterns are neat though!

You`re from germany too? Quite a bunch now in this forum! 8)

Yes it has a quite some score related things. But it just doesn't feel like a scoring game it feels like a "beat it" game (the Extra stage as well as stage 10 can be quite a challenge) ;)
And yes I'm from germany I even live near Hamburg.
