Ok seriously all joking subject titles aside I do love the whole vibe this game puts out there; hard rock music, fantasy vibes, dragons all over the place...it's basically like an 80's Conan the Barbarian movie come to life as a shmup in all the good ways.
Mechanically I am very much into it as well. Def one I'd love to learn a 1CC on. Sadly I never really hear that much about Dimahoo though so I am curious about the perceptions of others? AS I love shmups but I a certainly not the best at them

Absolutely love this game. Used to own the green CPS2 Great Mahou board. IMO it has a very high skill ceiling like most other Raizing games. Trying to pull off all of the secret bonuses, item collecting etc. is a tall order and one only the best players can achieve. Survival is no cake walk either, especially for a single loop game.
Some of the best presentation you will ever find in a shmup. Running the original board on an arcade CRT is a thing of beauty. I can recall just staring at the epic attract mode repeatedly.
Unfortunately for Dimahoo another competing game with polarity switching was developed and released more or less at the same time and received quite a bit more attention in an already scarce shmup marketplace. Although Dimahoo is IMO much more appealing.
This would be one of my most hoped for Shottrigers releases as it's experienced quite the revival among top Japanese score chasers like SOF-WTN. Plus it's never been ported and the M2 gadgets would be quite helpful for routing this game. Keeping track of your completed item sets via the in game menu is a bit finicky to say the least.

Regrettable as it is, I don't think the lack of attention was really attributable directly to Ikaruga (OK maybe in the states, where 3D graphics were necessary to get any sort of respect from the mainstream press). Dimahoo was part of Capcom's brief push to "revive" arcade shmups on the CPS2 board, but none of Dimahoo, Mars Matrix, Giga Wing, 1944 or even Progear seemed to garner the response they were looking for. I think it was just a sign of the times..Rastan78 wrote:Unfortunately for Dimahoo another competing game with polarity switching was developed and released more or less at the same time and received quite a bit more attention in an already scarce shmup marketplace. Sure am glad we got that batch of games though.

An incredibly underrated game and one I've wanted to score, but that would require focusing pretty much exclusively on it for a few months to simply get a route down and I'm not sure how well I can do that.

The secret item collection is a fun mechanic. I can't remember if I've ever seen that in another shmupRastan78 wrote:Absolutely love this game. Used to own the green CPS2 Great Mahou board.
