What arcade company make the 'Virtual Pinball' cabinet?

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

For dynagod,

What arcade company makes the "Virtual Pinball" cabinet? And is there a website to learn more this interesting new-styled cabinet?

Yeah, that would be ace to have one of those converted to a shmup cabinet, perhaps with some minor modifications to the screen to tilt it higher to average eye height. Then we'd be approaching something like the Taito E-Concept arcade cabinet for shmups. ^_~

They're absolute rubbish, I tried a few out at the ATEI in 2005. Neck ache is a certainty (try shmupping on a cocktail cab, it's similar) - and the screens there were pretty lifeless and poor quality, with some lovely motion blur.

One or two machines were showing concept videogames running instead, also not very good.

theyre shite to mod tho.. its basically a cheap plasmascreen wiered to a computer.
forget about jamma/15khz/controllers or any wet arcade dreams you initially got when you laid eyes on the beast :(

for what the cab will run ya you could build your own vastly-superiour setup and still have cash over.

i like the design of it tho, pinball meets shmups sortoff, they look quite good :)
(yeah ive played it and like above i agree its absolutley shite)

ed: the one i played actually had a helicopter shmup (along with 6 or7other games), controlled by the trackball :x

I concur. Those cabs are a pain in the arse, but the thing that would completely ruin every game in it is the motion blur. Simply too much, the screen is very very low quality. Imagine the damage motion blur could do to ANY shmup. Imagine the last boss of Mushihimesama with motion blur :D A purple screen and *bang* - you're dead.
Alas, Ikaruga is going...

Undesired, unwanted them...
What makes them go?

I'd be afraid to tilt the machine, assuming there are sensors that can detect it and react accordingly.

Edit: VV I guess the idea is to make pinball as easily convertable as JAMMA arcades. Really, pinball machines are so expensive to maintain, not to mention having to buy a whole new board for every single game versus a quickie conversion. I like the idea to try to keep pinball alive, but it's certainly not the same.

I don`t know if your gameplay gets better and better if the screen gets bigger and bigger. And you`re staring at the screen at a weird angle. Video pinball, what a stupid idea. The thing I like about pinball is that its NOT a simulation.

Those screens look like they have the "dim-when-viewed-from-an-angle" syndrome. That's what I hate about cheap flat-screens.
