I've tried a few third party joycons with built in dpads but none worked well at all.
There are custom joycon dpad mod kits, but I'm nowhere near skilled enough to do my own modding. I came across this Etsy seller and recently received these. The dpad is ultra snappy, and at least as good as the split pad pro, maybe better.

These use the exact same shell shape as the normal joycons, so they fit in the Flip Grip perfectly. My hands are big and I have enough of a carpal issue to make gripping something the size of a joycon for any amount of time not feasible.
For the time I have had my Switch, I have very rarely used the joycon comfort grip. I found a mini tablet clamp stand that does hold the switch rotated.

I got this and at first tried to clamp it to the comfort grip and just bend it around from the back to hold the screen in front. After a few minutes of bending it this way, the clamp part snapped off. The actual tablet holder was fine. I used super glue to attach the tablet holder part directly to the comfort grip. There are bigger third party grips but I wasn't willing to get a nice one for a DIY experiment.

These fit exactly into the comfort grip and it is a lot more comfortable to hold than just in the flip grip. It is balanced enough weight-wise to be comfortable to hold, too.
Wanted to share this, now to change the Tate settings in every game that I have that has them
