Name Tranlations?

Can somebody give a rundown certain games with japanese titles?

For exmaple: Ibara is fairly straightforward, but ESPGaluda is more tricky because half of it isn't even a word per-se,a nd certain words have more than one meaning depending on it's usage. So what's the english translations for these games:

DoDoPachi: Dai-ou-jou
ESPGaluda
Homura
Ketsui

Ketsui is not the full name. It's full name is 絆地獄 *somthing* or *somthing* 絆地獄

Anyway, 地獄 --> Hell, but I don't know what 絆 means.

You're half right. 大往生 (dai ou jou) means "a peaceful death".

Ketsui is not the full name. It's full name is 絆地獄 *somthing* or *somthing* 絆地獄

Homura doesn't have an obvious meaning as it isn't written in kanji on Taito's website. However「炎」 (Flame) can be read Homura, so that would be my guess.

It's phoenetics. The r and l sounds are not disparate in Japanese. Hence you get things like Samurai Showdown's "Victoly!"

There are some particulars (each character generally has 2+ phonetic readings). Mostly it's because when you deal with words made from arbitrary symbols, like this, Ibara, or Dodonpachi, the creator of the nomenclature (in this case Cave) generally selects the pronunciation.

I never really got he meaning of Ketsui. It is a word (determination, resolve) but they chose to write it in katakana. Most other Cave titles have some type of meaning, and are not just a word.

Dodonpachi: It's a pun of sorts, dont' bother trying to make sense out of it in English
Ibara: Bara is "rose", and the "I" prefix means a cast of, or mint (or metal in this case).
Guwange: The name of the bad guy at the end of the game (named after a sound he makes).
ESPRade: Another mixture of non-Japanese phrases. ESP + Raging Deicide.
Progear no Arashi: Storm of Progear (Progear is the engines used in the game)
Mushihime-sama: Insect Princess

I read somewhere that "Dodonpachi" should sound like gunfire, hence the "Dododo-dodo-Dodonpachi" at the title screen. Reminds me a bit of how little boys imitate machineguns. This name is chiseled in my brain because of this. It`s a very emotional way of naming a game, I think.

IIRC, Ketsui ~ kizuna jigoku tachi means something like "Decision to bind the hell".
