new member here

Post by DBV »

was referred to this forum by someone I met at FanimeCon 2k6 while playing ESPGaluda...

forgot his real name, but his initials on the scoreboard were "ntl", while mine were my name I use on here, "dbv".

Anyways, i've been into shoot'em'ups for years now, but i've only gotten to play some of the older classics, like donpachi, dodonpachi, giga wing 1, ESP.Ra.De, and dangun feveron.

I'm mostly into Cave shooters (slow but massive bullet curtains) rather than quick shooters (gunbird 2, dangun feveron etc.), but i love em all the same.

Sooo yeah. other hobbies besides shooters are in my profile, and i'm majoring in film.

"NTL" here. Nice to see you made it to the boards, DBV. We totally owned that Galuda machine! I loved hearing all the "Oohs" and "Oh shit's!" all around me while I was playing. It made my weekend.

Come out next time there's a local meet or perhaps we could hang out sometime.

We need a new member thread/ sticky thing, anyone else noticed that member numbers have really increased in the last few months?

Welcome to the boards, please enjoy your stay :)

To be honest, personally I don't like the idea of having a sticky thread for new members, because I know that after the first one or two days, I won't look at the thread anymore, just like the rest of the stickies ;)

Take the collection thread for example... I stopped reading it after the second page, and didn't even post until the 5th page. I haven't even read pages 3,4, and most of 5 and after. I don't even know if there is anything after 5. See? Stickies just get filtered out of my attention.

1CC list? I completely forgot it even existed, and I was the first person to reply to the topic when it was created. Although it may have something to do with me not having 1CCed a single game since the initial reply. :)

If the majority of regular members are anything like myself, new members will have a hard time getting noticed without posting in other Shmups Chat etc. threads which can be a bit intimidating.

Thus, I suggest we let them create their "Hi, I'm new" topics as they wish.
