It's a shame most will be put off by the amateur graphics, as this plays really well. I'd rather play this than any Gradius game made after Gradius II.

Even Gaiden? But yeah, I agree; it plays wonderfully and the big changes that it makes to the Gradius formula (options no longer copying the ship's shot type, instant respawns, etc.) just seem like improvements from what I've played so far.

It's been so long since I last played it, I completely forgot about Gaiden! So yes, my statement still stands, with the exception of Gaiden.

I misread the title as "Splodus". Definitely liking it quite a bit so far.
