Mega Drive 2 SCART Cable woes

Post by BuddahLova »

Hi all, decided to make a thread here to see if anyone else has experienced similar issues as me.

I have decided to plunge into the deep end for MD2 SCART to output my MD2 and SSDS3 to my OSSC.

My Insurrection Industries MD2 SCART cable works fine on my MD2, however is missing the color red on my SSDS3.

My Retro Gaming Cables MD2 SCART cable works fine on my SDSS3, however is missing the color red and the left audio channel on my MD2.

This is such a weird pickle to be in since as I just wanted one cable to cover both systems and have purchased two without being able to reach a solution.

Would anyone have any troubleshooting tips to see if I can get them working on BOTH consoles?

Thanks!

Sounds like the pinouts are different. No easy fix but you can rewire the SSDS3 to match the MD2. I would just use two separate cables honestly.

They should be the same. I use the same cables for both, and they work fine for me. These are homemade ones so I've no idea how the OP's cables perform. Could it be related to how the console is oriented? If the cable is coming in at a weird angle it might not make good contact.

I never liked the MD2's A/V out. It's too small to support the weight and stiffness of properly shielded cables.
