Inexpensive shmups in Japan?

Post by genetik »

A friend of mine is leaving for Japan in just a few days and i will give him a list of a few games to buy for myself. Mostly for the Dreamcast, Saturn or PSOne.

Are there some good shmups, or other non-dating/rpg games that sell for cheap in Japan compared to what people usually ask for over here?

Any info would be appreciated :D

you´re about 5 years late for this idea. Nowadays, shmups often get sold for less outside of Japan. I´m not saying there are no good offers anymore, but the big margin is gone.

It's there if you know where to look. I assume someone on their vacation will probably just have to get lucky. And the yen also just got a bit stronger against the dollar, which makes them a bit more pricey.

So basically most games are the same price in Japan than when they're sold in the rest of world?

At least are their some good shmups really hard to find outside of Japan that are easier to spot when you're there?

Oh, and by the way, is the Gamecube Panasonic Q still available in some shops in Tokyo? My friend is hoping to find one.
