easiest game for 1cc?
Im thinking of picking an arcade game for 1cc. I tried strikers 1945 and Gunbird. I can get far in those but they get crazy hard later on.
what games would you recommend for a first time 1cc?

Plasmo, stop trolling threads.
As for a good 1cc I highly suggest Vasara, not only can you slash through bullets and enemies, but you can bump up against them without worrying about dying as much.
Of course, the final stage is rather hard, but it is definitely easier compared to some other shmups out there.

The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

I have to agree with Plasmo on Battle Bakraid Normal Mode - on good days I NEARLY 1cc it. I never cared for scoring much, and as far as rank is concerned, dying makes the game easier again - as well as bombing.
Plus, you get very different ship types, so finding the one that suits your playing style (speeding across the screen or safely dodging between bullets) is pretty much guaranteed.
I guess you should not be searching for easiest, but for the easier of the good shmups, as I don`t see any sense trying to 1cc a mediocre or even bad shmup. If you are starting in the shmup world, you should find a shmup you really like and then see yourself progressing. Bakraid is a very fine one, with nice music in particular, and a good start. For instance, I am far far FAR FAAAAAAAAR away from 1cc´ing DoDonpachi, but not being able to 1cc it doesn`t make it any less fun to play.

The older games are usually the best to pick. Gradius, arcade version, would be one I'd choose for the first easy clear. As for modern stuff, Battle Bakraid's Normal Course is pretty easy if you play to clear, disregarding score.
And just in case this escalates into the usual heated debate that follows a thread of this type, I'll throw in this one quick comment: clearing an easy game can be helpful in getting your confidence up, but don't rely on just clearing the easy stuff to pad out your 1CC list. You do your own skills no favours this way. Try to find a more challenging game that you like, and aim to clear that, and you'll find that it's far more rewarding, both in terms of skill building, and the overall satisfaction of mastering something that you consider difficult.

Try 1cc the classic Capcom's 1986 Hyper Dyne Sidearms PCB
For 1up,
You could try your hand at 1cc the classic Capcom/Romstar's 1986 version of Hyper Dyne Sidearms arcade Jamma PCB in either USA or JPN Bios setups. It was one of the first arcade games that I was able to 2cc with just two quarters back in 1988. The final mechanized worm boss was just too damn hard -- thus a 2nd quarter to bring it down once & for all. ^_~
I could 1cc the Data East's Heavy Barrel arcade upright and get the ultimate "Heavy Barrel" Super-weapon completed to take on the final huge boss at the end of the game. He didn't stand a chance after a few well place shots from my Heavy Barrel super-weapon. I would end up with a high score in the neighborhood of 1,415,000+ points on the average or higher. ^_~

... I agree with Icarus. To be honest, I never cared for 1CCs. I want a game that kicks me in the face after level 3. And going for score gives you all that satisfaction in a better way: Play it for the first time, DIE DIE DIE, save score. Repeat. Play again. Ah, you got better! The only goal in shmups I have is beating my OWN highscore. Superplays are eyecandy for me, but nothing I will ever mesure myself against.

(I am sorry, though, that this isn`t answering your initial question)

i agree, beating my own high score is the most rewarding part of playing shmups for me!FrederikJurk wrote:... I agree with Icarus. To be honest, I never cared for 1CCs. Same here. Zanac Neo is an easy one too, especially if you use the unlockable ship (believe it's called FC Custom).tekneekz wrote:shienryu explosion i 1cc'ed it on the second day of owning it.
I haven't done it yet, but Harmful Park seems pretty easy to 1cc, in part because the default setting is Easy. Changing it to Normal gives you fewer lives and better challenge.

Normal is still way too easy. I 1CCd it on Normal on my 2nd try when I first got the game. Normal is still fun to play for score though.professor ganson wrote:I haven't done it yet, but Harmful Park seems pretty easy to 1cc, in part because the default setting is Easy. True. I beat APB Normal on my 3rd try 1 or 2 years ago and got my highest score. I've never been able to beat my score.cigsthecat wrote:Armed Police Batrider Normal Course.
Super easy, plus you get to play the best game of all time.
The same follows suit for Raiden Fighters 1 (China rom set). I finished it on my 3rd game as well and have never finished it again. Make sure it is the China rom set as it's ALOT easier.

Sonic Wings (Aero Fighters) is by far the easiest arcade game I've ever played. If you like the style of gameplay, you can either play the sequels (2, 3, Special, Limited) or move on to the easier early Psikyo games after that. (For example you could start with Gunbird, then try to tackle Strikers.)
As mentioned before, the normal courses of Bakraid and Batrider are very do-able too.
