Is this MX4000 faulty, or is it a cable/hardware/setting?

Hi. I recently picked up a Beovision MX4000 from eBay and I’m getting some pretty visible banding whenever there are pixels followed by empty space. Screenshot attached. Any ideas what could be causing it?
