EXTRON VTG400 - Custom Rates (need help from the gurus)

Long story short:

A few years ago, i was looking for a device to test my CRT monitors, and the great Fudoh advised me to look for this unit:

It is indeed an awesome tool to test Video and Audio with the added benefit which is custom scan rates.

I would love to create a custom rate for all the major Arcade Hardware and consoles, but it seems like the software ask for a lot of specific parameters that i've never even heard before to be honest

Things like "front porch"; "back porch"; "sync pulse"; etc.



Does anyone know a website or forum with such info? Or does anyone have such info to share?

any modeline or video timings calculator will give you those values. Try google, pick the next best.

A few days ago I looked into these things for a different problem. I found this website that has a tremendous wealth of video timings info, with the parameters that you need for pretty much any scenario. I think this may have been put together for MAME:

You likely can just copy the values found there, so long as your monitor supports that given scan rate.

I will take a closer look because the link contains a lot of info.

But i don't think this what I'm looking for. What I meant was values for Capcom cps2 ; Taito F3; Sega genesis; Snes; etc.

If you use your browser's search function on that website for those terms you'll probably find them, I know they have listed info for snes, genesis, and cps2 at least.

As Xyga pointed out previously, you can't recreate the odd signal idiosyncrasies of many edge case PCBs and consoles with a test pattern generator.
