I love how lush the 2D art is. Especially now in widescreen. If only we could get more games like this in the modern age. An amazing looking gem that I'm definitely picking up. I presume a Strictly Limited Games physical release will happen at some point.

As of now it's only been announced for Switch - hopefully others are to follow - but on the bright side it has already been confirmed as coming West sometime next year.

This is really exciting, especially since it seems to indicate that it's a brand new game. The sprite art already confirms what we all know, which is that Tengo Project has the best professional 2D artists working today. Gorgeous!

I hope that if there is a multi-language release (like there was for Ninja Warriors) I can bypass the cringe-worthy "pocky and rocky" name and keep the characters as Sayo and Manuke. It's not the 90s anymore guys. This stupid localization joke can be put to rest.

The game looks pretty mesmerizing, I agree. Looks like they do wanna keep up the Pocky/Rocky gag but w/e. I suspect that much like Ninja Warriors Once Again, Tengo Project will focus less on the score aspect and more on the stage completion time aspect; which is fine in all honesty. I wouldn't want the game to be centered around milking enemy spawners anyway vs going full ikari on these dirty nopino goblins.

Also: that bean-gobblin' goblin has never looked better!

I would hope that they add a strafe button to this version, but looking at the trailer it doesn't look like they have
so... be prepared to hear that get brought up in every review of the game

Agreed, my main thought on playing both Commando and Mercs recently. Feels so ungainly having to yank the stick around to spread fire around properly.

From what I read, this is a sequel? It seems to have the same first stage, but the rest of it is new? Some of it certainly looks heavily inspired by the original. Maybe

Yeah, that's my hope as well. I don't really want to grab games for the Switch due to drifting.

Do you actually experience the drifting issue? It never happened to me, but I guess I got lucky and got a SKU without the issue. I heard it's a pretty easy fix, though?

I did on my first set, and it was terrible. My second haven't really done it, having said that, I've picked up 8bitdo and Retro-Bit pads since then, and an arcade stick, so they actually get very little use, especially in the current climate.

I saw elsewhere recently it being called Pocky & Rocky Black Cloak Mystery.

I get the Reshrined, but that also rings of rehashed.
Retro rehash marketing is wearing thin.
Black Cloak Mystery lures me in for something new. What is the mystery. I wanna know. Reshrined has no intrigue.

Black Cloak Mystery is pretty much the SFC game's original title (Kiki Kaikai: Nazo no Kuro Mantle) - even ties into the plot
