Could you take your father down if you had to?

I'm quite the athlete so I could most likely take my dad without too much trouble. However, if he were in his 20's back when he was sprinting, swimming, pumping iron regularly, and didn't have a bad knee....It would be pretty close... He was also pretty good at taikwondo back in the day...
I'd probably come away with broken bones or something. Scary thought.

One of my proudest moments was finally beating my old man at chess a few years ago. We used to play a bunch when I was a kid, but I always got a sound thrashing.
But back on topic, yeah... I could take him. He's a vet, and still tough as nails in his own way, but he's 63 years old now with bad knees, so...
I would never think of doing that. He was kinda hard on me as a kid, and it wasn't always fun living with him. That man had a serious temper. But, it did toughen me up, though, and for that I'm grateful.
Ah shit. I should call the old codger tomorrow and see how he's doing.

There are exceptions to that "rule." Example: I will never again respect one of my uncles because that irresponsible bastard refused to take care of the son he had with his first wife. And that lazy bastard had the nerve to ask my parents (who were already taking care of me and my 2 younger brothers) to take care of him. That kinda of #### is unforgivable. If I ever saw my uncle again, I would seriously deck him for refusing to take care of my cousin.PsikyoPshumpPshooterP wrote:would never take down my father. i would walk away. vietnamese culture taught me never to disrespect my elders
As for the orginal question...
I'm 21. I'm taller but skinnier compared to my dad. I've been doing martial arts for 2 years, and I have also developed a high tolerance for pain. But my dad was in the South Vietnamese Air Force and has been in actual combat (even though he was an aircraft mechanic), so he still has the upper hand even though he is 55. He's also in decent shape.

Street dance? Do you break?chempop wrote:well my step dad is a vet and has been working labor since childhood (farm raised), so despite my strength from matrial arts and street dance I wouldn't be able to make him flinch if I gave him my best shot... as far as my real dad, he died before I was born.
Andi, I'm not into breakin' any more although I'm down with tons of Bboys/Bgirls that do. I'm all about Poppin' and Lockin' (Funk Styles), been teaching and performing for quite some time now. Last year I opened for Nas with a crew called Poetry in Motion, there were a few other Poppers, but I was the only Locker so I went all out old school with the striped socks and all.
